My parents, 81 and 86, are like two excited kids desperate for Christmas. I'm at their place and Dad is "Only 5/4/3 hours to go now..." in his all day countdown.
My mum: "I hope the Dutch annihilate Argentina!" ![]() ![]() I might need to call an ambulance if Messi scores a hat trick. |

Tough one to call this match. I think whoever wins will get beaten by Germany in the final though. Mind you, I don't really mind who wins this game or who wins the final. All I'd ask for is 2 decent games to watch.
thank you

After last night anything less than 9 goals tonight and I will be disappointed.

I think there will be...
Thinks of a number between 1 and 10 ...eight goals tonight. For Holland. ![]()

Will be a minute of silence before the match for Alfredo di Stefano according to the BBC.
I wonder if it was because because of fears the Brazilian fans would not respect it as to why they wasn't a silence last night. In that case the neutrals from Brazil in the crowd may disrespect it. |

I fancy Holland for this one.
I wonder how much of the pre-match talk will be about Lionel Messi and last nights game. I say 99.8% |

I think the last time these two teams met in the World Cup was in 1998. A quarter final which saw that stunning Bergkamp goal.
And of course this was the 1978 World Cup Final, which Argentina won. Procure a grain of excitement from the match!

I wonder if Van Persie was really ill or was it just a ruse to confuse Argentina and make them waste time thinking of new game plans when he was going to play from the start.

Messi's friend, a well known sports Reporter in Argentina apparently died today in a car crash in Brazil. I wonder if it will affect Messi's performance. I am not sure how close they were through.

Team news good, all we need now is for Townsend and Chiles to lose their voices.

I don't particularly like either of these, but a Germany/Netherlands final would be fun.
