I vividly remember some of that. Despite being very unimpressed by the way Argentina had played throughout the torunament, I was disgusted by the diving and simulation of injury which successfully led to Germany's victory in the final, a stain on the world cup.

Gary Lineker pointed out that Maradona played in a era where you allowed to kick lumps out of opponents, Messi is, thankfully in a generation where flair players are more protected.

I saw the 86 world cup film, some of the tackles on Maradona were awful, you could see where the studs had gone into his legs

I take the point but they were the better side in the match and the best side in the tournament - plus you can't overlook Argentina's two red cards and the way they bundled the referee after the second one was shown.

Think Argentina will win the penalty shoutout.

You mark my words,

Van gaal will use an outfield player, possibly Huntelaar, or a CB, in goal for one of the penalties, possibly against Messi.

So... Netherlands could reach the World Cup Final without scoring a goal for 240 minutes.
