I don't mean companions or Doctors but I mean either production wise or actual devices, e.g the food dispenser in The Dalek Invasion of Earth or a race (good or bad) you liked.

I would love another adventure with the Wirrn.

More mileage in the Mara if handled well, I think. Love those stories. And since their recent return and because I love the design, wouldn't mind a full blown Zygon story sometime.

I would like to see a return of a time tunnel opening sequence rather than the space field whatever that we have now. You could easily bring any obscure foe from the past back. What about a villianous Sensorite hidden on a spaceship who can take control of the minds of the crew?

Morbius would be a cool villain to bring back.
I really like the visual of this large manky crab-frankenstein with that weird brain thing.
Only, I can't think of a good reason to bring that body back, since it was destroyed and Morbius only used it as a last resort.

The pure historical.

Just try it once. If it gets a low audience AI then don't do it again.

Definately the Mandrels. Loved them in Nightmare of Eden. Also, the different coloured Daleks from Victory of the Daleks.

The Ice Warriors too. Not just one, like we saw in last year's story Cold War, but a whole army of them.

It would be nice to have a Sontaran story, like we had in Series 4, with the ATMOS devices. Ditch the comedy that we've had with Strax and move on to the Sontarans being serious and angry.

I prefer two parters as supposed to one part stories. I feel one part stories are often rushed so that the Doctor and companion can get the task in hand resolved, then move on to their next destination in the Tardis.

The Flood. God, they were creepy. Creepier than the weeping angels have ever been. Then again, maybe best left as a one-off for precisely that reason?

The hath are a nice design, pleasingly mental, and the universe needs more aliens who aren't trying to kill all. The biggest one, though - seems like a really huge one, in an era full of recurring characters - is Canton Everett Delaware III! What happened to that guy? He was the Doctor's fourth most trusted companion! Or was that just a predestination paradox? Great character, sorely missed from the rest of series 6.

The hat stand, the console room just doesn't look right without one.

Davros but without the daleks. Simply have the doctor and davros in a room with a dilemma of some sort to work out over 45 mins. Written right and it could be a good ep.

I agree.

And, pure or impure, I'd like to see them deal with more varied historical periods on Earth. Other than brief sequences, my rough count of historical settings in the revived series breaks down something like this:

7 - Early 20th century
7 - Victorian era (including one in France and one in the Wild West)
6 - Late 20th century
2 - Elizabethan era
2 - Roman Empire (including Roman Britain)
1 - 18th-century France
1 - 16th-century Venice

Couldn't they try more things with the geo-historical ambition of a Marco Polo, a Time Meddler or even The Highlanders? Even the places have been limited to Britain, America, France, one foray into Italy and a Russian sub.

I'm probably asking too much to return to the educational remit of the Hartnell era, though.

The food dispenser was used in the dead planet. I would love to see the zarbi return.

Good point, well made! I did find the Victorians ever so boring as a child - I suppose it's justified nowadays as it's two of his companions' home turf, but give us Greeks and Celts and Incas.

I'm always surprised they've not spent more time in Ancient Egypt. All their iconography, gods with the heads of beasts, it's almost an alien invasion already. Then again, low-hanging fruit?

NB - Two forays into Italy! Venice, and Pompeii.

I definitely think there's more mileage in the Reapers. And I also love it when unexpected monsters return, or characters and concepts that weren't realised very successfully the first time around are rehabilitated. That's why I was a bit sad that Meglos never made it to the final draft of 'The Lodger'. So let's give Bonnie Langford the chance to act or bring back the Tetraps! Recurring enemies and ideas don't just have to mean the Daleks, Cybermen, Autons, Weeping Angels.... Indeed, it can be a law of diminishing returns when they do. Something more obscure or quirky can deliver less predictable results.

I think we can assume given the cost of making/ designing costumes etc that both the Ice Warriors & the Zygons will be back.

I'd like to see the Parliament of the Daleks because it really was a beautiful design. The Shadow proclamation would be good too. Otherwise historic is good - actually what about historic Wales? What about Owen Tudor?

Thanks for correcting that! I was quite tired when writing it and clearly gave up the ghost during that sentence.

K9, an updated version of the old theme tune, a HD intro sequence, more 2 parters,

watching an old classic episode the other day I cant believe the amount of people that died in the episode, it was either Jon Pertwee or Tom Baker

Supposedly during a rehearsal of The Edge of Destruction, William Hartnell said 'Susan, check the Fornicator' instead of 'check the Fault Locator'. According to the Tardis Wiki it was a joke, not a genuine fluff.

I hadn't heard that story, although somehow I'm not surprised.

Have Jarred Christmas as a new regeneration of Drax, who this time has picked up a Kiwi accent.
