Casting in Hollywood is mostly done on looks - you have to be good looking to make it there so middle aged people from Corrie or EE are unlikely to ever make it in Hollywood however good their acting is.

The young good looking soap stars from Australia head for the US because there isn't much work in Australia once they have left a soap.

Its more down to youth and beauty than acting talent but there are good and bad in the UK and in Australia.

imo the reason british soap stars by and large fail to make it in Hollywood, is because the british tabloids have them type cast as their soap character whereas the Australian don't tend to do that

It doesn't make them necessarily better actors but people like Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce as well as Heath Ledger, Margot Robbie etc are and were extremely talented as well
