Digihome 50" Full HD Smart ELED Freeview HD TV

Hi all.

Would any of you recommend this telly?

http://www.ebuyer.com/611946-digihom...nday%29_All_FS

It`s got quite good reviews but not a name I`m very familiar with.

Seems like a good price for a 50" 1080p with free wi fi dongle.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Digihome is a brand of Turkish manufacturer Vestel, per Vestel's site http://vestel.co.uk/brands Vestel's TVs are sold under many brand names owned by Vestel or licensed to retailers.

So not terrible but not up there with the four main branded manufacturers. (Samsung, LG, Sony and Panasonic.)

To me, the failings on this particular TV seem to be in the on-demand services. It has BBC iPlayer and Netflix but does not have ITV Player, 4OD, Demand 5, Blinkbox or Amazon. Vestel has licensed FreeTime to provide a backwards EPG like YouView and all the PSB catch-up services so unless the purchase is urgent, I would be tempted to wait until this range is launched or just get a non-smart TV from Digihome or someone else.

To be honest, with Chromecast being available for £30, Roku sticks for a similar amount and Sky NowTV (which has all the catchup services now) for £10 (with no requirement to run a subscription) I'm not sure I see the logic in paying £100 for a half-baked "smart" feature on a TV.

Asda have been selling 50" Polaroid sets for as little as £260 with certain discount codes, and I'd be inclined to save the cash to be honest.

Plug these cheap TVs into an HDMI source and they're all much of a muchness PQ wise.
