As with most theme parks there will a gift shop where you will be able to pick up themed gifts based on the featured Sci Fi franchises: Star Trek, Star Wars and Krrish. It will also include Doctor Who themed gifts (which is not currently popular in India, but online research suggests that the population is gradually becoming more aware of it) and the usual T-shirts and other memorabilia. Other memorabilia will include amongst other things a clock, which is a replica of the floor plan of the park itself (more on that in the next section). We will also sell the popularised home chemistry sets that give you the opportunity to do chemistry in your own home. And we feel that this shop could potentially be a very lucrative addition to our theme park.

We have prepared a basic layout for our theme park. As you can see, the Bohr model is in the centre and most of the rest of the attractions are laid out in the shape of a clock face. At each point on the clock, there will be two (or occasionally three) rides, which will be arranged according to scientific theme - we have not finalised which themes will be at which point, but we would suggest that, for example, Point 1 could centre on the human body, Point 2 on animal biology, Point 3 on our planet and so on. We also have a sci-fi zone in one corner, which is where our Star Trek ride and our other attractions based on franchises will be located, two restaurant blocks with three restaurants in each, one snack bar, toilets and a gift shop. These prices are based on five other competitor theme parks’ ticket prices and on market/online research,. We have to bear in mind India’s lower purchasing power of money - for example, a pair of shoes which would cost £50 in Britain may cost £35 (3,500 rupees) in India. The theory is based on differing levels of inflation changing the relative prices of the two goods, and the assumption that in absence of duties, inflation and transaction costs, identical goods should have the same price in different countries when expressed in the same currency. We are also trying to make the theme park affordable to lower income groups, which are prevalent in the region. Keeping this in mind, these two factors are the main reasons why theme park ticket prices are slightly lower.

Each ticket may be subject to change based on seasonal fluctuations. Fast Track tickets allow a customer to cut into a line, which may reduce waiting time significantly and thus cost twice as much matching other Indian theme park sites. All ticket prices such as Weekday/Weekend rates for Adult/Child, Senior Citizen, Student etc. match the lowest competitors. The Student price band is typically for university students who would hold a Student ID ordinarily. The School Trip package is designed for groups of 30 to 50 students. 5 Day Passports are aimed mainly at foreign tourists, whilst Annual Passports are aimed mainly at domestic tourists who will come and go at various points in the year. We will have our prices advertised in various forms which will be covered in our promotional plan.

Promotional Plan:

One of the central reasons we have chosen India and Delhi as the site of our theme park are the many marketing opportunities. We have integrated market research and online research into our promotional plan. Firstly, we will try to promote and market our theme park to as many domestic consumers as possible. We will advertise on popular Indian television channels such as Star Plus, Sony TV and Colours whose primary viewership are families and parents. We will also advertise on local popular kids' channels such as Cartoon Network and Pogo to get children interested in it as well. In addition, we will put posters advertising Sushrata's Cher and special offers up in local popular malls like DLF Emporio and DLF Promenade, and bazaars like Palika Bazaar, Connaught Place. We will also post adverts in popular local Indian lifestyle and entertainment magazines such as Femina and Yuva, and in leaflet stands located throughout Delhi. Another advantage of Delhi and India is the emphasis placed on public transport due to heavy traffic, so we will definitely take advantage of that by putting these posters up in stations and buses too.

We will also put extra emphasis on marketing for tourists as science is a widely appealing concept and will be attractive to tourists on holiday already. Therefore, we will organise promotional deals with popular foreign tourist hotels such as the Ashoka Hotel, where we will advertise our theme park in their brochures and pamphlets and advertise special offers. We will also organise with hotels special packages to combine visits with popular tourist destinations in Delhi with our theme park; such destinations could include the Taj Mahal, Red Fort and Qutab Minar. Adverts will also be placed on popular domestic tourist sites for hotels in India, and on leaflets at tourist help stalls located throughout popular, buzzing tourist bazaars in Delhi, such as Chandni Chowk. Another advertising tool that we can utilise is foreign tourist websites such as Tripadvisor and Indian travel guides. We naturally will use this medium in order to publicise Sushrata's Cher.

Additionally, social media is currently booming in India with 100 million users and 243 million users of the Internet generally, so we will take advantage of this and launch extensive social media campaigns on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. This will be particularly effective with the younger demographics – the main users of social media in India – which we are targeting alongside families. As well as informing social media users of Sushrata's Cher, we will also upload weekly competitions for people to win special offers through our Facebook and Twitter pages. We will upload videos of parts of our rides on our YouTube page and also monthly feedback from people who have gone to the theme park to tell other people about the fun experiences they have had. We will also launch a well-designed and easy-to-navigate website to advertise rides, prices and special deals as other theme parks have done. We will put special offers on various sites. An important part of our promotional plan will be spreading the appeal of our park by word of mouth which is often how people hear about theme parks in the first place, and we feel the online marketing scheme promotes this.

Finally, one of the greatest advantages of the Indian market is the proximity of Bollywood. Bollywood is one of the two largest film producers in the world, with a huge and dedicated indigenous fan base within the country especially in Hindi-speaking Delhi (which is the main language Bollywood films are in), as well as a famous industry abroad that tourists often associate with India. We will start off by having a Bollywood actor advertising Sushrata's Cher on our television advert. We will also organise with Bollywood producers promotion of Bollywood films within the park itself, with posters for films regularly being displayed. In addition, we will organise regular appearances from Bollywood actors, so that fans can come into the park, meet their favourite actors and take photos. We will spread the word through television advertisements, our website and magazine/leaflet adverts (especially in Cine Blitz, Film Fare and other Bollywood orientated magazines). Many sociologists have commented about the popularity of Bollywood being almost like an 'obsession' within India, with 100 million people worldwide watching a Bollywood movie in 13,000 cinema halls every week. The domestic Indian population find Bollywood hugely appealing and foreign tourists commonly identify Bollywood with India. Thus we believe associating our theme park with Bollywood will increase the appeal of our park exponentially.

As a team we feel Sushrata's Cher has tremendous potential to succeed in today's theme park market, both as a destination for domestic consumers and tourists. The concept of our theme park is fairly unique and would therefore make an interesting experience. The location of India is fantastic because of the nature of the huge demographic, potential investment and sponsorship, low costs of production, numerous opportunities for marketing such as Bollywood and many other reasons. Our unique take on some popular rides leads us to believe that we can appeal to both adults and children alike and to both eastern and western cultures. The pricing covers all the different groups of people with various packages and is competitive against other theme parks. The promotion plan is extensive covering both domestic and foreign consumers using many different forms of local and online advertising.

We believe that Sushrata's Cher fits perfectly into a niche gap in the theme park market which with the right marketing could be expanded into further parks in countries such as the UK, America, Australia and Germany in the future. Myself, Iain and Roxie really hope that you are as excited as we are about this project, and without further ado, I would now like to open the floor to questions.

Hi Inspired. Well done on the pitch, it's clear you've put a ton of work and research into it with all the statistics and detail. I admire you for taking a big risk with your theme park and I also really like the promotional plan. However I have a few questions regarding your park.

First of all I think it's great you picked a location with millions of kids and teenagers who are your target market. I'd be a little concerned that teenagers view science as boring yet theme parks are meant to be fun. This idea would work well as a museum but I believe teenagers may be put off going to a park which is promoted as science and technology. How would you try to overcome this obstacle?

Secondly, your idea is marketed heavily towards local people and not tourists. Many local people may use your park once or twice then decide they've been on everything and not return. How would you keep your park fresh and ensure these customers continue to return. Thirdly, tourists are a big audience and Delhi isn't a major tourist hotspot for theme parks do you think by missing out on this audience you've limited yourself too much?

Hi Katie, and thanks for your questions. I will be answering the first one, and Roxie will answer the following two.

With regards to kids not being especially interested in science, that may be the case in the UK, but in India it certainly is not. As we stated in our pitch, science is part of the culture in India. A great number of children identify it as their favourite school subject, and as they grow older many children express interest in becoming something in science as a job. One of our team members is Indian, so we have been able to realistically identify what would take off there. I'd also like to point out that we have a sci fi zone. Science fiction is very popular with children all over, regardless of whether they are interested in factual science or not. Star Trek in particular is huge in India, and was actually among the first international television shows to be broadcast there.

I would also point out that although our theme is based around science, you don't necessarily have to be interested in it to enjoy our attractions. Our rides are designed to be a lot of fun in any case, even if someone doesn't especially notice the scientific element. Many of our faster-paced rides have less of an emphasis on learning, and are very similar to classic amusement park attractions, only with a slightly more scientific theme. Our digestive system roller coaster is a fun roller coaster at the end of the day. The same can be said for Bohr, Peacock and most of our other rides. The theme is based on science, but science does not dictate the enjoyment levels at any point.

Hi Katie - thanks for taking the time to read through our pitch and ask some questions. I will be happy to answer your last two questions for you:

2) Yes it is marketed towards domestic consumers and we do have a number of incentives to increase repetition to our theme park. So we have two passport schemes which encourage domestic consumers to come back whenever they can and they can eat at our restaurants and snack bars which is one major form of revenue for our theme park, fast track are not included in the passport scheme either and will still be available to purchase. We also have Bollywood appearances every now and then to give more incentive for domestic consumers to come and meet their favorite soap opera and film stars at the park and multiple special offers which we will advertise in multiple formats as stated in the promotional plan - on leaflet adverts, magazine adverts and online via social media and travel sites.

3) Tourists are indeed a big audience for theme park attractions and we have definitely included targetting them as well with our promotion. As I have stated in my promotional plan we have about 6 different ways for attracting tourists such as organizing cheaper deals with hotels and advertising on hotel brochures. We will also organize with hotels combined visits to other tourist attractions (such as Taj Mahal, Qutab Minar etc). There is also an abundance of tourist information desks and leaflet stands located throughout Delhi and our promotion scheme will also take advantage of these as stated in the plan through the use of adverts. Additionally we will also put adverts on both domestic tourist sites, foreign tourist sites such as Tripadvisor and travel guides when people are looking for places and attractions to go to in India. So we do have a lot of focus on foreign tourists within our promotion plan both in and out of the country - it may even be a deciding factor in making a trip to India too. Our 5-Day tickets are also especially geared towards tourists who may only come for a select time (usually maybe about a week) as a repeat incentive and this again helps us take advantage of restaurants, bars and fast track tickets as a source of revenue.

Also statistics as I have outlined in my location section show that Delhi itself is a prime tourist hotspot with a huge number of tourists coming in every year - 13 million from abroad and 9 million domestic - one of the biggest tourist hotspots in Central/Southern/Eastern Asia so there is already a huge tourist population to tap into it. It has one of the fastest growing tourism industries in the world with people having many incentives to come to India: whether it be to immerse themselves in the culture (the Taj Mahal is visited by 3 million tourists annually for example), the endemic animals (such as the peacock or various tigers/leopards/lions) or the rich diversity in food (varied across the whole of India). Delhi itself has been the capital city of over 4 different empires making it rich in history and it's a melting pot of various cultures and religions making it culturally rich. While it may not specifically be known for its theme park industry, that is exactly why we are opening a theme park there because of the presence of competition. There are established theme parks such as Apu Ghar and these are very popular but there are few in number making it a prime place to set up a theme park. There are many incentives to come to Delhi and as statistics show it is a tourism hotspot which we can take advantage of with our theme park.

Just the one question from me - what's your reasoning behind having a 5-day pass at £15 and the annual pass at £25? There's a lot of difference between the 2 in terms of the amount of time that you could use them, yet not that much different in price. If anything your consumers would all buy the annual pass, so you could lose money that way.

Hi Amy - thanks for once again taking the time out to read our pitch.

Our price scheme is in no way the final version and we would adjust it to ensure the most optimum level of profit. The gap between 5 Day and Annual passports that you have stated was actually something I mentioned to my colleagues as being quite difficult to define as to what would be big enough of a gap to avoid losing profit. When we have some idea as to what price level is generating the most profit when we see how many people come to the park, we would adjust that bit accordingly and make sure it is at a point where we make profit. The prices we made for the passports are just reflective of what other theme parks are selling for - so the 5 Day passports are usually twice the price of normal tickets and the annual passports are usually more than three times the price of normal tickets and that is how we have done it. But we can change the annual passports to be slightly higher if people feel that is more appropriate and if that is better for business (I was thinking 3000R/£30 for Adults and 2500R/£25 for Children keeping in mind we want to make it as affordable and as sensible as possible for the demographic).
