They seem to be the most popular of the new carters and I suspect the most durable in it for the longhaul of all the Carter characters/actors.

With them being at the helm of The Vic are we destined for a joint Nancy Linda queendom?

They need to get Shirley out of the vic and ensure Linda becomes friends with a lit of the regulars before she can become queen.

I wouldn't say they're any more popular than Mick or Johnny but it's hard to assess things like that as it's impossible to know the general mood of the casual soap viewing public. Certainly on here they've become more popular recently but then they've had the benefit (if you can call it a benefit) of being relatively underused compared to other characters on the show. Generally speaking, as soon as a character is giving a challenging storyline that tests their moral compass, they will usually become more criticised (as well as, on the other side of the coin, more passionately defended.)

In any case, what I like about the Carters is that the core four of them work so well together - none of them are superior to the others and the four actors have absolutely brilliant chemistry. They're all soap royalty as far as I'm concerned.

There is only one Queen and her name is Stacey. When she returns everyone will be kissing her feet while Lacey once again reigns supreme over all the award shows.

Much as I love Nancy it's the Linda/Shirley relationship that is the most fun....throw in Dean and Mick and you get the potential for some great drama.

I love Shirley/Linda dynamic and I like Shirley in the Vic. I think Shirley, Linda and Mick should stay in there.

Couldn't agree more. You can have personal favourites (mine being Johnny of course) but the fact is Mick, Linda, Johnny and Nancy are all equally as strong characters as each other and have great and very natural chemistry off and on screen. Even with Danny Dyer having a knowable name he is no more better an actor or a better character than Kellie Bright's portrayal of Linda, Sam Strike's portrayal of Johnny and Maddy Hill's portrayal of Nancy. These four (along with Stan) are soap royalty and I mainly watch EastEnders just for these guys if I'm honest.

On a sidenote Nancy does need her own storyline - and other people to communicate with besides Mick and Johnny.

Just axe Shirley! Then the Carter family will continue on going from strength to strength.

It says a lot about her character when the best scenes that involve the Carter family, Shirley is nowhere to be seen.

I just feel that these two have longevity written all over them and I can see them especially Kellie staying with the show much longer than the others.

I respectfully disagree. I think Shirley is brilliant with the Carters, though obviously Linda, Mick and the kids are a family, Tina and Tosh are together and so really Shirley ought to have a partner with Dean and Mick alongside her.

I agree completely! I know Shirley has many, many, many failings but I think she's a great character and I like how she's still quite douchey still even though her family have arrived. it would have been ridiculous for them to have turned her into a saint

I agree 100%, if she suddenly became a model citizen overnight, it would be completely implausible. I love that she has these failings, makes her interesting to watch and there is never a dull moment with Shirley in the mix!

It should be noted that the only partner Shirley ever has or will care about is whichever bottle of Vodka is closest to hand and a gutter in which she can swill it down. She is otherwise incapable of love or being a decent human being, and enjoys nothing more than covering up a murder or three with Phil, the dirty boots to her doormat.

I do think Kellie and Maddie are the strongest actors in the Carter clan main family.
