DS 2014 Newmarket July Meeting Tipping Comp 10th-12th July)
I said I'd run the "second string" comps so here goes with the three-day Newmarket July Meeting from Thursday 10th to Saturday 12th. This competition was last run in 2009 by the late Hermjca, who will be remember by a few and was prolific in running these comps back in the day.
I'll be able to do most of the updates after each race, but on Saturday I'll not be around for most of the afternoon so will have to play catch up late at night. I'll post Thursday's template tomorrow afternoon. Rules THIS COMPETITION PERMITS REPLACEMENT OF NON RUNNERS UP TO THE START OF ANY RACE Pick one horse in every race. You may nominate any number of reserves to your preferred choice. If you pick a NR you can change it up to the start of the race. Any NR/Withdrawn without a nominated replacement will go on the unnamed favourite (lowest race card number for joint/co favourites). Points 10pts winner 5pts second 2pts third (minimum 8 runners) 1pt fourth (handicaps with 16+ runners) Double points ** are awarded to the biggest race each day |

Day One template:-
1:40 2:10 2:40 3:15 ** 3:50 4:25 5:30 Yes, I see there's a gap towards the end of the day, probably a donkey or arab race, unless it's a football mascot race

Thanks Dart.
My tips: 1.40 - Forever Now (Hartnell) 2.10 - Belardo (Mubtaghaa) 2.40 - Arab Spring (Gatewood) 3.15 - Mount Logan (What about Carlo) 3.50 - Sulaalaat (Osaila) 4.25 - Pretzel (Zarwaan) 5.30 -- Lupo D'Oro (Arrctic Feeling) I'm not at home today so rather worried about what the ground will be like. I live in Norwich and it was pretty poor weather here yesterday (although very windy - almost gale--like in July)! Looks very gloomy here this morning. Norwich not a million miles from Newmarket so although the ground is showing as g/firm at the moment, will it stay that way? If it's windy there, then it probably will, I suppose. Decided to go for horses that act on quick ground, but chosen horses that will go on softer ground as my reserves (in the main). Good luck everyone! |

The reason I DIDN'T go for Gatewood was the ground. Maybe I should check BBC Weather a bit more often - incidentally it says cloudy but no rain til about 8pm
It's rarely soft at Newmarket anyway. The area has sandy soil. |
