Deep Breath query (Vastra query), possible spoiler.

I hear Deep Breath is set in 1888 'Ripper' London. At the start of 'A good man goes to war' we see Vastra making a comment about having eaten Jack The Ripper. Does this mean that Vastra will be the only character in Deep Breath who has known the Capaldi Doctor?

To the best of my knowledge we haven't seen the Doctor when Vastra first emerged from the underground - could this story be it?

There was a lot going on in that time period other than Jack the Ripper. Given that Vastra lives in the 'Ripper' period - as you've said - it's not really a surprise if an episode involving her happens at that time.

No Deep Breath is not an origin Vastra story.
