To "park the bus" OP you need a defence that actually knew what it was doing, which implies some form of skill and organisation.

What they had was simply a shambles, so if the lot on the pitch tonight had taken your advice, the score would have been nearer 12 or 13 in their net....

It wasn't so much tactical as attitude: "if Neymar can't play, no one plays." Gotta admire that level of solidarity,

Yeah... that's why the most successful football nation lost 1:7 in a World Cup semi-final on home soil... out of solidarity

I agree with the OP. To play attacking football with Germany is madness, but a Brazil team that doesn't play attacking football is not a Brazilian team.

As for tactical analysis... Today Brazil played without attack, midfield, defence or a keeper.

Germany only had 10 shots on target.

Brazil had 12.

Cesar was shockingly bad today, as was David Luiz

That's because they never pushed forward unless they had cover behind. That's why they were annoyed when Brazil scored......

Luiz yet again got lucky, as he had 2 elbows missed in the game....

Cesar wasn;t bad.
I agree David Luiz defended terribly - thing is he put in some really good through passes as well.

How has he played at centre back for most of hi career - his positional awareness is shocking.

Fred and the left back were absolutely awful too.

Second one certainly wasn;t an elbow.
It was a push with his arm. Never an elbow in a million years.

It was a straight arm in the Germans face.

The elbow met the Germans chin, so at least 2 elbows this game, which should have led to him walking even before the several dodgy tackles and attempted ones.

Luiz is a dirty player, no one can doubt that unless blind, deluded or simply an idiot.

As much as I like Luiz, it was a definite elbow and a definite red card

How can you say Cesar wasn't bad when there were 10 shots on target and 7 goals?

A goalie can't do much when the attackers shoot well.

There's nothing like good tactical analysis, and this is nothing like it.

not sure you can even apply much tactical analysis when a side just fell apart, at all levels.
headless chickens. Devastatingly found out that emotion is not enough.
Hopefully Brazil can rebuild, without Scolari, using the many fine players they do have at their disposal (including quite a few who were left out of this squad).
Löw's problem is how to keep it going against far more pragmatic and challenging tactical opposition in the final, whichever team they play. Neither Argentina nor Holland are going to let Germany's midfield run rampant. Suicidal.

Luiz is an awful defender, keeps forgetting he's a defender and keeps running forward, Chelsea did the deal of the decade getting rid of him for £40 million.

For notoriety, will the Brazil players semi final team shirts (if they haven't been binned) become worthless or priceless in the future.?

Ironically Brazil started well on the attack but that was their downfall in a way with the likes of Luiz trying to get forward everytime.

They had no leaders at the back and before they knew it the Germans had hit 5.

Germany passed the ball really well but I have to say Brazil's defenders didn't exactly do much to stop them.

Scolari has always been a terrible coach. His "tactic" was to rely on a handful of superstars which he had in his team and let them sort it out. The Brazilian 2002 team was hardly a team, but a collection of a few great players and superstar Ronaldo.

Now he only had one star - Neymar and even he wasn't playing as great as the Brazilian stars of the past, but with Neymar out, the team became just a collection of random individuals who may or may not be professional footballers.

Fred is probably the worst striker I have ever seen in my life in any team, so to think that he is Brazil's first choice is a really shocking testament to the state of Brazilian football.
