On several occasions when the Germans were in the Brazilian box, Luiz can be seen STANDING STILL and just watching the ball sail into the net - he was static for most of the game. Dreadful - then he has the gall to cry.

I think we have seen enough examples at this World Cup where this was not the case.

Surely, Cesar could have saved a few of those shots? I can't remember all the goals, but I remember thinking where is the defence and WHERE IS THE KEEPER?!

The capitals help, honestly.

To be fair 192 square feet of goal is a lot to cover when your defence has gone AWOL.

You only need to look at Luiz during the first goal to realise how static he was.

He didn't look round once to see the position of Muller, leaving the entire back area without cover.

And even more difficult when the hopeless Brazil defence gave the German attackers so much time to not aim their shots straight at the goalkeeper, unlike most of Belgium's efforts against Tim Howard.

People keep saying that Brazil were weak because Neymar wasn't playing. Their superstar player. Now that may have some credence when speaking of Brazil lacking in attacking power last night.

But wouldn't it be more true to say that they needed Thiago Silva more, and that he was more integral to the strength of the team than Neymar?

Because I got the feeling last night that even if Neymar was playing they wouldn't fared much better, and that if Silva was playing he may have held the structure and shape together a lot better and helped the team to be more disciplined.

I know that Neymar is a big name. For good reason I suppose. But I think that people are undermining the importance of missing Thiago Silva last night.
