I have a BT youview box that I'm not using and am considering selling it, however I'm still in the minimum contract term.

Whilst I've no plan to cancel the contract early (I'll just cancel when I'm out of the minimum term), I'm concerned that if someone bought my box and started watching content via the BT on demand section, that I'm going to have to foot the bill for someone elses viewing.

Cancelling the contract is an option, however if BT charge more to cancel early than I have left to pay on it, then I'm not interested. Unfortunately, BT don't make their terms and conditions easy to find, so I'd have to ring them to find out.

Is it possible to unlink the box from my account, or does the box link to my account because it's going over my broadband connection?

Just wondering if anyone can help with the options I have available to me.

youview boxes are dynamic they are not linked to anyone (unless yovue added say now TV)

just do a factory reset before you send it off to the new owners (if you sell it) and thats that when they plug it in it will do an update if they have BT/TT and already have a TV package it will just update to their stuff,

The TV is linked to your broadband account so any YV box plugged into it just gets a little update to tune the IP channels / On demand players that are appropriate,

I have 3 youview boxes 2 BT branded ones and a talktalk branded one i got from cash generator for £30, when i plugged the TT branded one it it rebranded as a BT one and it gets all the IP channels/ ondemand that my BT package gets the only thing it dont do it record IP channels because TT branded ones dont support it yet.

Hope this helps
