As a child, I was quite a keen reader of DC Thomson's "Warlord Book For Boys",
and I remember several of its characters very well, including Lord
Peter Flint , Jake Cassidy, Kampfgruppe Falken and Sergeant Rayker.

However, there was one "Warlord" character I can't remember the name of. I think
he might have only appeared either very late in the comic's run,
or even just in the WBfB instead of the comics.

This character was a North African (Tunisian or Moroccan?) and he fought against
the Nazis in the North African Campaign, sometimes working
with the Brits or escaped Polish POWs. He rode a camel and
wore a soldier's uniform with an Arab headress.

Can anyone remember this character's name? It's been bugging me
for ages!

Be honest...how many of you learned what words like "Achtung!" and "Banzai"
mean from comics like "Warlord"? I remember doing our first German class in
secondary school, and the teacher asked us did anyone know any words
from Goethe's language.

I mentioned I knew "Vorwärts" (Forward!) "Feuer" (Fire/Shoot) and "Schnell"
(Quickly). Which was three more than anyone else in the class knew...

I read Victor myself and like Warlord that comic occasionally had stories that had Germans as leading characters

There was one about a tank that was commanded by the prince of a small former German kingdom.

I remember one story about a crooked German soldier who worked as a driver for an officer. He had managed to secrete some loot from one of his criminal enterprises into the officer's car.

On a related theme, I got the '"Commando": The Dirty Dozen: The Best 12 "Commando" Books of All Times' for 49p from a charity shop near me. It's in pristine nick as well. I was so pleased, I let them keep the penny change.
