Customer service seemed ok when i just visited store. issue with an s4 and they took in in under warranty for fix, given that it was 15 months old.

Only two issues for me, one they initially asked for proof of purchase which as I explained is not necessary as the phone is within the 2 years warranty, which they accepted so no big deal. however slightly more concerning it has gone to CPW for repair , no idea what they are like. Only the sim reader so not a big concern either.

Fix within 48 hours so all in all 7 or 8 out of 10 I say.

I've known about 4 people who have had to have Samsung phones/tablets fixed under warranty, which is worrying in itself.

If its gone to CPW then they would have sent it back to Samsung so it may be 3-4 weeks before you get it back unless they have sorted themselves out.

In one case which was a CPW fix Samsung sent the phone back to the wrong CPW store and it took my friend about 2 months to finally get the phone back.

well I suppose there will be more warranty fixes with Samsung, Sony etc as the warranty is two years not one.

No it is express under warranty and sim reader is 48 hour repair, well we shall see tomorrow.

i expect those things happen everywhere, you will find ineptness is rife all over

...in the sense that most of the settings to enable you to do all the interesting geeky stuff is disabled by default...
The most interesting stuff is in the wider choice of apps.

And quite obviously, side loading is turned off by default. It prevents malware installs via phishing.

Does anyone know in total how many variants there are of the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone?

Just read Samsung have quietly released Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus which is basically the exact same phone as their original 2014 flagship except it contains Snapdragon 805 chipset instead of the original 801. Why not just wait and release it with 805 instead?

The 805 is the same chipset that the Galaxy Note 4 comes with.

Although the fact I got it free with all you can eat data/texts/minutes @ £31 a month from 3 does make me love a it more than I should lol.
Wow, that seems like a bad business model - free phones. What's the £31 per month for then?

Surely if you saw the light you would have seen it was coming from an Apple logo.

Exactly. The phone's not free as a high proportion of that £31 accounts for the phone itself.

Never had a problem with my S3 that I had for 2 years or my works S3 that I've had for 2 years or my S5 that I've had for 6+ months or my wife never had a problem with her S2 she had for well over 2 years.

I know a couple of mates that have had problems with their iPhone's in the last couple of years though.

We must have just been lucky.

If there is one thing I have learnt from fanboy wars its that your own anecdotal evidence and experiences hold universally true for literally everybody else on the planet.

I hate this iPhone vs Android Vs everything else. The last two phones I've had have been WM8 and Android. I've just brought a SIM free iPhone 7, not because I was to be 'cool' or its better than android this and that but because I fancy a change. I try to change OS each time I change my phone to see how they all run. The comment in an earlier post about them all being a colour screen with icons about sums the argument up. I dont care iOS and WM are less customizable as long as the dam thing works.

Iphone 7, I thought the clocks went back an hour last night, not forward 8765 hours!

What the.... Windows mobile (WM) only went as far as version 6.5 so you can't have had a WM8 device. And unless you have a time machine to pop to 2016 you don't have an iPhone 7 either.

So which phones are you actually talking about.

Thing with most android phones is that the updates take bloody ages, the only time you have the lastest version of android is when you first buy the thing, you'll be lucky to get the lastest update when they release it, unless you have a nexus phone of course.

Not that I'm too bothered about having the very latest version especially that it won't make the phone unusable and most people change their phones every 2 years.

If people are that bothered they would flash their own software.

Good for you.

There will be quite a steep learning curve from the iToy to Android/Samsung/Touchwiz but stick with it.

It can be as easy or as complicated as you want it to be. There will be things that you think iOS does better but keep an open mind as Android just does it differently.
Can't tell if trolling or serious but either way, you're wrong.

The windows phone was a miss type, I had a Lumia 920 obviously running Windows Phone 8. The iPhone is of course a 6 and again the result of typing whilst trying to hold a toddler.
