Marlon did the right thing

It's a game, he pressed the button. He didn't cost them the shopping task. Everyone cost them the shopping task by taking their rewards as such. The biggest over reaction i think i've ever seen in Big Brother, up there with Jennifer's painting.

My rationale is... Buttons were made to be pressed.

If I see a button, I have to press it. It's instinctual.

Yeah, triffic. He's got an extra 7 days on basic rations in a house that detests him, he's almost guaranteed to be up next week and he's had to give Winston his hoodie back. Well played, sir.

It was his call and he had every right to press it. Considering that he was quite likely to go this week it seems an astute decision.

From the look of some of the HMs, basic rations may not be a bad thing. I think the issue is more about the reduction in alcohol and cigarettes than food.

FFS the mock potrage in the house when he pressed the button was unbelievable

Both Steven and his robotic "girlfriend" would have pushed it, Steven probably quicker than Marlon, Ash would have as would have Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark.

I would have liked to see a situation with the producers saying that they can win back the budget if Helen hands back her pass to the final and just see what the HM's would say there if she didnt do it

Wouldn't that be rather unfair in Helen? I'm not her biggest fan but none of this situation is her fault. Why should she have to carry the can?

Im reversing the situation, Marlon saved himself and all his "mates" turned on him. If the situation had asked for Helen to turn in her final pass...to pass the task and she hadnt done it (which would be the correct call as Marlons was) would they have turned on her?

I dinna think so..............

I do think there was a massive over-reaction but on the other hand Marlon himself is usually first in the diary room complaining when others don't put the group first.

Think back to this time last week. Who was the one in the diary room complaining that they had lost the weekly task because three housemates chose not to eat BB's special breakfast letting the group live on basic rations.

That's correct Marlon himself.

At least he can leave the house still holding on to his dignity.

Totally agree. I was embarrassed by everyone except Marlon who must have felt bad but looked cool as a cucumber. (must look up Jennifer's painting now tho.)

I just don't understand all their outrage. They ALL chose to take their treats & drain the battery when it was their turns, yet they're giving Marlon hell for doing essentially the same thing...the hypocrisy in that house is astounding. Are they really so self unaware?

The button press used up 100% of the shopping task therefore being an automatic fail so he did cost them the shopping task. That said, they did overreact. His 'friends' shouldn't have abandoned him the way they did.

For me, the difference is that Marlon had the choice between saving himself or failing the task for the group. That is why the group were so annoyed. They don't see it as failing the task when they used all the 'apps' thereby losing battery power. They see that as part of the game.

So when Marlon (and 4 others) were faced with the contrived dilemma of either saving their own skin or winning the task, 4 others chose to win the task, and Marlon saved his own skin.

Whether we think the others might have pressed the button is hypothetical, because we will NEVER know. What we do know is that Marlon has made himself stand out as perhaps selfish and a gameplayer...

Who knows which other housemates might have pressed the button if they were in his place? I think we all have our opinions about that, but again we will never know...

Marlon was naive, a tad selfish and a bit short sighted there, but because he did it so blatantly he upset a few people in there, who obviously held him in high regard.

What it has done is remind the group that this IS a gameshow after all.

I do understand what you're saying but all Marlon did was use up the rest of the battery that everyone else had already drained. It's a bit pot, kettle & black of them to in effect say "we've already had our treats & that's ok we were allowed them, but you shouldn't have used the rest & lost us the shopping budget"

I don't even like Marlon but I think he had every right to press it (as did any of them in the room). They lost the shopping budget collectively & that's what they don't seem to understand. If they'd all made a pact all along that none of them would take any of the treats offered & they had all said no & then he went ahead & pushed it anyway then they'd have had a right to be angry.

They're just justifying their treats by saying "well there was still battery life left when I took mine"

They're all as selfish as each other really...I just don't get WHY he did push it since as the others pointed out (rather cruelly imo) he was unlikely to go. I'd guess he was looking at how Matthew went the week before when nobody expected it & thought the same could happen to him

Victor Ebuwa would have pressed the button

Marlon was just continuing his attempt to mimic the Slick man

Do people still not get that the final task with the buzzers is completely unrelated to the previous drainings. They didn't count at all, not one bit. Saying it's hypocritical is the same as saying three people ate from one box of sugar puffs all week and now I'm coming in and stealing everything in your house and stabbing your sleeping kittens. Stop and think. If you still don't get it then you're pretty dim.

I agree.

I thought the rest of the HMs were a bunch of pathetic hypocrites.

I'm particularly unimpressed with Winston who I thought was his 'mate'.

The speed at which Winston has dropped Marlon, when, he himself also contributed to the loss of the task is breathtaking.

If it was 50k it would have been the right choice I did think his friends would back him up.

No one else lost the task, that was the only test that could drain the battery and fail the task .
