The basic requirement is to transport the light from source to destination without corruption. Provided they achieve that then the cost of the cable is irrelevant.
There may be a concern about the quality of the optical fibre in a really cheap and nasty cable but it should be fairly obvious if it is crap. Nothing subtle about the effects of a corrupt digital data stream!
I would also avoid some of the really thin cables you can find. I've know a few of those fracture if they are flexed a lot. And look out for cables with big heavy plug ends on them. Optical sockets are not the best designed on the planet and a heavy plug can easily fall out!
