Despite the cheeky answers, of course Jade is up there as the most successful housemates.

BB3 gave rise to...
Kate - TV presenting, modelling, DJ, current radio presenter. She has done very well
Alison - Well known for her telly stuff
Johnny - got some acting work. Was on Corrie in a minor role if I recall. Now running his own business

BB1
Craig - millionaire x 15
Anna - successful television career in Ireland

BB4
Ray - successful radio career in Ireland for years but not sure what he is doing now

You misunderstood what I was trying to say. I meant that Deana was already on what you might call a success track (to be fair, Alison Hammond was as well) and there is no reason to believe that she wouldn't have made it without BB.

You said "most successful housemates." On paper, she might have been a success in that she wrote books, had workout tapes, etc, but I have a different take. You have a woman who died at 27 leaving behind 2 boys. Whilst she was financially successful, I would not trade places with her as she never really got to enjoy the decent life she created for her family and only got to be with her boys for a very short time.

Jade aside if i go by who i personally still see around now.

Kate Lawler- I listened to kerrang when it was still local to Birmingham.
Brian Dowling - Still see him with his presenting.
Chanelle/Chantelle/Josie/Imogen - See those around mainly im magazines/daily mail etc. Trashy things.
The others other than odd appearances on bots i haven't seen them again much.

But Alison who is now presenting & doing other tv things unlike Kate/Josie/Brian didn't win & went in week 2. Can most of us even remember who went then.
Take money & fame aside to go out second yet still be around & now have a career on tv that is brilliant.

Isn't it strange that BB5 had so many memorable housemates, yet had no success story - by success I mean relative to former HMs at least.

Michelle has quite some success in the porn/glamour world (if you can count that as success)

Stuart is training to be a doctor I think - pretty successful.

Jason owns his own gym - that's a success

Ahmed's some kind of rich property developer

Slick Vic is famed for being the greatest HM ever and idolised wherever he goes - a success.

Nadia tried to kill herself but failed - so I guess she was unsuccessful

Once BB had engineered their transgender victory, I guess she was surplus to requirement.

Jade Goody, Brian Dowling, Josie Gibson and potentially Nikki Grahame have become the most famous

Ahh now your username makes sense ..hello Jason

I'm surprised Ahmed wasn't the owner of a Greek Restaurant Empire or even the Dictator of a small country

I agree with the OP. Sam Pepper is one the most successful if not thee most successful.

I don't know how the hell he's managed it because he didn't impress me on Big Brother but he's somehow managed to build a huge Youtube channel and has been moved over to LA where he is currently based. One of his recent videos also suggests he's just completed a UK tour. What he does on tour is anyone's guess. I've watched the video and I still don't know.

They didn't have to 'engineer' anything: the press loved her, and seemingly, so did the public. The suggestion that BB winners would walk into media work stopped after BB3. Cameron said that he would like work on a motoring programme, but didn't get any; he was locally famous for quite a while - and still does get interviewed locally - but there were never any national tv offers for him. There is no special need to single out Nadia: the next winner to get tv offers was Josie.

Josie is another who goes down the diet route. We see it time and time again. They pile on the pounds, get their picture taken on the beach and three months later they are in trim condition with a fitness dvd out. Chanelle has done it as well recently.

Yes, true. The public appetite for this kind of thing seems insatiable. At least Josie has more or less kept the weight off: Jade seemed to sell a weight loss/ weight gain story practically every month.

I remember Jayne in BB saying that she wanted to be a stand up comedian, but then her agent (this was in the days when people like Jayne got agents after BB) told her that her 'better' (for which read 'only') chance was in a weight loss story. So there was a snippet of her pedalling furiously on an exercise bike. Only she didn't lose any weight, so that was that.

What does that even mean?

If someone dies young of a disease (it's not like she died of an overdose or something self afflicted ) they are a failure in life? where were you even going with this?

Thank you for articulating what I couldn't. I don't get Jungle Cats remark at all.

I find it depressing when a person's level of success is measured purely by how much money they've made.

Or apparently , not dying of cancer

I would consider someone like Lisa (bb7) quite a success because she went back to her normal life and job as a plumber without suffering any mental side effects from the show.

That's how we could determine successful , housemates who leave the house having enjoyed the experience for the most part and return to their everyday jobs (or become z listers , whatever makes them happy) without any mental scars (I think people underestimate how taxing it is mentally)
