Coronation Street was out of slot last night so there is a reason for 'low' ratings. But what are the reasons for Emmerdale and Eastenders?

I must admit that EE didnt hold my interest last night - I am, quite honestly, fed up of the Carter-centric episodes and if they continue to dominate the SL then I will be switching over and watching something else

Rather than just making a sweeping statement with no substance could you please elaborate why it was utter garbage.

I really think Eastenders can't be saved. The rot set in years ago and it seems viewer simply have not returned to watching it. I know its a struggle for me these days

Good to see the ED 2nd ep picking up viewers on the back of the 1st ep, following DonnaGonna's admission finally to Marlon that she is in fact dying.

Dont be so dramatic. Eastenders was performing well before all the summer sports, it is getting much better reviews from the critics and it is having a large investment to update the studios
Its going nowhere.

I'm glad not to give a stuff about ratings. It's sad that people do.

When did you sneak that 'mildstone' in, and if it wasn't on the ED or Corrie threads you can just forget about the usual champers and canapes from Mr B.

Germany v Brazil the other night got 14m !!

Kinda justifies slinging the soaps out of their spots I'd say.

Big live sporting events like the World Cup are going to destroy soaps and we know that, but we can just catch up on another day or record a soap.

It's only a soap

The shares aren't too terrible. If 5.5 million is a 30% share it means only around 20 million people were watching TV last night at that time.

Lol. I know you weren't being all soap war triumphalist jade! Usually these ratings threads are started to wind people up.

Exactly. It's the share that matters.
Not many people watch TV live these days, especially in the summer.

Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale are always consistent with their share, and as long as it remains that way, I don't see a problem.

Good grief no! I only quoted that post of yours and 'ahemmed' to draw attention to your post count, so I could demand to know why you didn't have your milestone on the Corrie or ED thread. These are the things that matter as you know.

Because it was wall to wall lies, thieving and adultery. Lazy writing.

And yet 99% of your posts on this forum are anti EE comments. So for garbage it certainly manages to hold your attention enough to warrant you discussing it all day long.
