Eastenders bosses struggling to re-cast Ben
Eastenders bosses are currently struggling to re-cast the role of Ben Mitchell. Casting teams have looked into over 300 young actors and auditioned almost 40 men for the part. However they have had to back to the drawing board as no one has stood out as a solid replacement.
With the actor due to start filming the first week of September, it’s now a race against time to find the right person. However DTC has said if a suitable actor isn’t found, then they will simply push the storyline back, rather than make a rushed decision. ! TBH I can imagine it must be difficult. They need someone who looks like Ben, is likeable and strong, a good actor and has a much better screen presence than his previous portrayers. Good Luck with that! |

Smells like bullshit. If he does indeed start filming in September then no final casting decision would be made until mid August anyway and in some cases actors are only told they won the role a week prior to filming due to the secrecy involved with the show. Julia Crampsie used to be a regular visitor to my old drama school so thats how i know.

I can't believe this. There are tons of actors there that are both suitable and dying to do this role some justice. I would have at least expected to hear that a couple were in the mix but what quality could DTC possibly be looking for that he hasn't found in 340 people?

The two previous Ben's didn't go down that well so I imagine there is a lot of pressure to get the casting spot on this time.

Or they could just scrap the return storyline... Don't really want Ben to return to be honest. He doesn't deserve to come back after killing poor Heather Trott.

Didnt kierston know several months in advance she had won the role of kirsty. It is completwly plausible.

If you watch the video of Mimi Keene winning the role of Cindy you will see she only got told that the role was hers one week before she started filming. |

Why can't they just bring Joshua Pascoe back?

OP they don't need to find someone who looks like the old Bens that doesn't really matter.

That's because Keirston was a high profile name who had a role created just for her.

I think one recast is enough, and when you start recasting an actor 2-3 times it just gets a bit stupid and the viewer can't relate. I thought the first Ben was pretty annoying, and even though i didn't like the second Ben, i think he portrayed Phils son much better. I also think with the actual actors real life problems which have gone on, that it in fact strengthens the character of Ben, and they should just bring him back again.

I hope if this is true it means Ben doesn't come back. I'm not warming to the idea of Ben returning tbh. Namely because its causing the fan fiction of him getting with a 'certain favourite character of mine whom I love' by many forum people on here.
I think though Ben needs to come back at least for a little while though, namely to round off any existing story lines he has and to share scenes with Shirley, Jay and Phil. |
