I would, you won't get another network offering that, not even in your dreams lol

I'm paying £26 for it which I thought was pretty decent(until I heard what your paying)

My girlfriend has an iPhone 5s contract on ee and pays just less than 50. She gets less data than me but 4g more often!

Its unreal!

EE is advertising its £16.99 deal on Facebook to me at the moment. 1,000 minutes and 1GB data. Wow. 1GB!

EE is no longer pretending that people don't use more data once it's faster. Far from it; most of their press releases of late are about increased uses of data, people streaming TV (to watch football etc) and so on. In effect, their press releases are talking of huge needs for data, while their marketing people continue to push tariffs that probably wouldn't have enough data to stream a single World Cup game before you had to buy more data!

Tethering or no tethering, Three will still be offering unlimited data on the handset itself from next week, and that will still remain unbeatable as more and more people start to use data intensive services.

I agree that many people don't use a lot of data now, but people didn't see the point in camera phones and sharing photos and video, and in the mid-late 1990s a lot of people couldn't see what the Internet really 'did' or offered them (at best, it was email). Things change.

Well,, took the plunge with the 12 month sim only for £20.

Lass in call centre said (without prompting) that deals change on Tuesday, and that the tethering limit for contracts taken up after that will be 4 gig.

Make of that what you will.

As long as current contracts don't change.

I think 4GB teething is much farer that the 2GB.

For the majority of the country's users even 2gb is more than enough

The 4GB can be topped up if necessary. It certainly is quite generous, if you look at tariffs that only include 1GB full stop.

This will be 4GB plus unlimited data on the handset (assuming you go for the AYCE option).

My parents are on EE, I've yet to see a place where they get a decent signal and I don't, so for this area Three and EE are probably on par. Your GF may get 4G more often than you but you probably find 3G fast enough? I know mine is, although everyone would like a speed increase for free, I know I would

Well I have phoned 3 today to try and cancel my contract (to order one of the £20 One Plan Sims) but the guy said why would I want to pay the cancellation fee and I explained that I would loose my unlimited tethering at the end of my contract & I'd pay the remainder of the fee looking at it that it would pay for my phone but the guy said I would certainly be able to keep my plan as it is and just have the monthly payments adjusted to a sim only equivalent.

Hmm. I'd expect that if you get them to reduce the monthly fee after the minimum term, you'd be switched to whatever tariff (and T&Cs) is in force at the time - thus the tethering cap. I think there's every chance you may be required to commit to another contract term.

IF they simply apply a rolling discount to your current tariff, that could be fine, but I really don't know if that would be the case. And, sadly, I doubt you'll be able to hold them to whatever they might have said over the phone (they could argue that they could withdraw such an offer at any time, without notice).

Na, he's lying to you.

Once your contract finished you'll continue paying the same amount on a monthly rolling basis, you'll have unlimited tethering but obviously you'll be paying quite a high amount. If you move to a SIM Only plan then you'll be subject to a tethering cap.

Yes if he gets the sim only one plan AFTER mon/tues next week, so really today was the last day, possibly tomorrow...

Just as an aside, what are 3 like for calling customers with offers, especially those on 30 day sims? Not that I want them obviously, I want the opposite.

Not registered online yet so hopefully there is an option to turn off contact permission there....

Confirmation of 4GB on monthly plans.

Extract from Orange Ts&Cs
This seems very clear new contracts pay monthly 2GB, new Sim 2014 plans 4GB.
It says Personal Hotspot (tethering) can still be used on older 1 Plans (that allowed it before of course).

Personal Hotspot on your phone.
Using Personal Hotspot is when you connect your phone to other devices to use it as a modem so they can access the internet. It's also known as 'tethering'.

All our new Pay Monthly phone plans and new SIM 2014 plans include Personal Hotspot. If you have a limited data plan, using Personal Hotspot will use data from your data allowance. If you have all-you-can-eat data, you have a Personal Hotspot allowance of 2GB for new Pay Monthly plans and 4GB for new SIM 2014 plans. This means you can use the internet when you're out and about with other devices including laptops, tablets and games consoles, just by connecting them through Wi-Fi or USB to your phone. You can also use Personal Hotspot on all our older One Plan plans including our one month rolling SIM plan.

If you run out of your Personal Hotspot allowance, or you’re on one of our older Pay Monthly plans, like the Essential Internet or Ultimate Internet Plan, you’ll need to buy an Add-on. You’ll then get a Personal Hotspot allowance. You can only use this allowance in the UK.

To find out what Add-ons you can get on your plan, and to buy an Add-on, visit your My3 account on your computer, or open My3 on your phone and select Buy Add-ons. Unfortunately some of our older plans aren't compatible with Personal Hotspot Add-ons.

Our Pay As You Go plans don't allow you to use Personal Hotspot. See our Pay As You Go terms and conditions for more information.

Yes.

If you order the one plan SIM Only now you'll get it.

But once it's gone tomorrow it's gone.

4GB is still not bad though - it'll upset the 100GB+ a month club but it's better than the "why don't you use that 1GB you pay through the nose for" on other networks.

I'm glad I'm already on the One Plan SIM only.

I think it's a disgrace and a typical sign of rip-off Britain and an affront to our human rights as enshrined in the Wall's Magnum Carta that you can't just pay your tenner a month - ten hole Englisch pounds - for unlimited all-you-can eat data like at the Chinese buffet King Dong down the road from me, and watch Netflix and Youtube and free movies and stuff all day and nite long whilst my dog bittorrents 4K videos of squirrels to chase on his iPad.

When's the Office of Fairground Trading or that minister Mr Cable & Wireless or Lord Sugar or someone going to do something about it? And also stop the discrimination at Chinese restaurants where non-guide dogs aren't allowed to come in and share their masters buffet dinner and sit up at the table. It'd never happen in Korea, where everyone gets the phat internet pipe in their mobile for almost free.
