As there doesn't appear to be a thread for this I thought I'd make one.

Will anybody be watching? Most people on here seem to be opposed to the third place play off.

God, i can see the tumbleweeds already blowing across this thread

Brazil scored the most pointless goal in the world cup during the semi

This, is the most pointless match of the World Cup.

Maybe for the last time.... the third place playoff match

Brazil to win 7-6, crowd goes delirious, Scolari hoisted high by his players, football has come home, dancing to the samba beat.

I hope the Netherlands can really ruin Brazil's World Cup by beating them. 2-1 Netherlands.

Didn't someone jokily make a thread for this before the group stage was even completed?

As with all World Cup third place matches, the biggest unknown is not which team will win but how seriously both teams will play.

Surprised at the line ups. Thought more squad players would be starting

Holland: Cillessen, Kuyt, Martins Indi, De vrij, Vlaar, Blind, Wijnaldum, Clasie, sneijder, Robben, Van Persie.
Brazil: Cesar, Maicon, Thiago Silva, Luiz, Maxwell, Paulinho, Gustavo, Ramires, Oscar, Willian, Jo.

Yes which has been revived, but this is the only thread which has the names of the two competing teams in it.

It's a glorified friendly, but these games are often quite entertaining, such as the last one between Germany and Uruguay, so lets hope for an attacking game with a few goals scored.

It's good to see Brazilians cheering for their team again. Neymar watching from the bench while the others warm up.

Even with LVG's comments I suppose it's good to see him taking the match seriously, although it depends how much effort the teams put into the game.

Neither side seems to care. I really couldn't care less whether we (The Netherlands) win 3-0 or lose 3-0, it doesn't change anything. Third place doesn't count and playing an extra game for it seems ludicrous. For me it's nothing more than an international friendly.

Evening snukr and all Spotted 2 threads so staying here, and the mods could always merge both threads if they felt like it

Hoddle's mic has no sound, and looks like only one mic seems to be working. lol

Wonder who will get 3rd place, and hope for a good match

That was odd. Anyone else get the feeling Neymar forgot he was injured as he got off the Brazil team coach? Looks at the camera crew and suddenly grimaces and holds his back? Then manages to high-five someone entering the stadium? All this for someone with a serious back injury? Hmm. I didn't buy his "tears" during his press conference either.

ITV have comedians in the sound department ...... think they have come ot the end of their tether with Hoddle and Wright and turned their mics off!!!.

I was enjoying that for that 15 seconds of silence.

Yeah but winning 3rd place is a Bronze medal, and I'd rather one than nothing.

Indeed. Both sides can chill, relax, and hopefully give their supporters an entertaining send-off from the tournament.

Holland to turn it on and Brazil to lose an unprecedented successive second home game.

Outrageous that goals scored in this match, a glorified friendly, should count towards the golden boot.

Why would Brazil decline to play Neymar. His absence cost them defeat and clearly deflated the team.

This is basically just playing for pride, I think Brazil will put more effort in and treat the game more seriously and just edge it, 2-1.

It's almost over.

C'mon Brazil. They should be desperate to finish on some sort of a high.
