Yep - heres hoping that when Big Phil is shown the door later on tonight they can get in a competent manager that can sort them out.. . they really need it.

Agreed, apart from Neymar who can be wholly excused as far as I am concerned.

How long do we thing it will take for Brazil to make it back to the world's elite? Probably shorter than Englands

Brazilian taxpayers picking up the tab. I bet they're well chuffed.

Brazil finish on a -3 goal differential despite 3-1 and 4-1 wins in this tournament.

That's how bad they were in the past two matches.

We don't really know what players may turn up in four years time, or where Neymar's career is going next with his injury.

Germany really hit the rocks around the turn of the millennium, but have now firmly restablished a position that could prove dominant for two or three tournaments at least.

Having said that, I doubt they have ever fallen quite as far as this. I just hope they can produce a set of players the likes of which we have seen only sporadically since that 1982 side that was magnificent to watch.

The 2011 Copa America was a disaster for them. 0-0 draw with Venezuela and 2-2 with Paraguay before beating Ecuador and crashing out on penalties to Paraguay in the QFs after they missed all 4.

Considering the Confederations Cup is a heap of glorified shit, Brazil's last two major tournaments have been nothing short of disastrous.

I think much of Brazil's success has been significantly assisted by the aura which surrounded 'Brazil' courtesy of the Brazilian teams, in particular, of the 50s and 70s. That aura has now been shattered. Brazil will no longer be able to rely on teams feeling they have lost before they have kicked a ball. They will now have to accept a place alongside but not above teams such as Germany, Argentina, Italy, the tier above the one England are in.

That's a nice touch from RvP.

The whole squad get a medal.
It was just a nice gesture to give Vorm a run out at a world cup and also means that every Dutch player has made an appearance.

Let's hope Germany slays Argentina tomorrow.

Obviously Van Gaal was inspired by Hodgson's team selection in England's last match. As were we all .....

I am watching the match on ITV and switching over for the analysis, there is another thread elsewhere asking that question.

I heard the Commentator say it, and felt what he said had a lot of truth in it, as Brazil played as if it was one guy at a time. Couple of easy goal shoots and they couldn't manage it either....but if they had played as a team, they would have scored. I had wanted them to win, but they let us down. But I hope they rise like Phoenix from the flames next time round, and give us the match of matches.

The World Cup is such a special event, that not doing well isn't an option, or it shouldn't be.

I like Lawrenson. He sounds as bitter and twisted as I am

On the other hand be interesting to see how the Dutch progress under Hiddink and how they perform in France in 2 years. Not as many big names as previous squads but a lot more spirit.

Yup

Jimmy Greaves got one.

I might flip channels, so I can get the best of, hopefully, Robbie Savage and Ian Wright; you can't have too much down to earth stupidity.

Most people I know are saying this, in fact it seems to me that most people want Germany to win after reading forums online etc.
