Ashleigh - This year's 'Tweenie' fave?

Not a thread about anyone on here, of course, but it was a bit depressing to learn, at the end of Bit On The Psych tonight, that there'd been an organised campaign on tw*tter and f***book to vote out Jale because she was perceived as Ashieigh's nearest rival for the axe on Friday.

It was like a flashback to the bad old days of Grossie and Crab Eyes, where all opposition to the happy couple was systematically targeted, and destroyed. God help us all if the bedroom strategists who stoop to this kind of thing ever organise themselves politically. Sinister guys of a certain age and sentimental teenage girls would be an unholy alliance. Like the KKK, except everyone would be wearing pink dressing gowns.

I'll be treating anyone who speaks up for Ashleigh with suspicion from now on, certainly, but that aside, what is it about Ashleigh that's driven a section of her fanbase into a frenzied, on-line swarm state, do we think? It hasn't happened in a while.

I would say it's because middle aged men want to sleep with her, and teenage girls want to be her, but these days, it could just as easily be the other way round.

Anyway, discuss.

The campaign wouldn't have been necessary if they had vote to save.

Actually, people of all ages and types joined in.
It was spearheaded by @bbspy, @bbcouchpotatoes and @bigbrother-xtra who have ~100k followers between them.

The original target was Marlon.... until he saved himself.
So it's all his fault, lol.

The main reason is because Ashleigh is seen as the anti Helen housemate.
If Ashleigh had gone, it would've been game over and Helen would've won.

Just unfortunate it had to be Jale, but there was no other way.

Of course, there's also always the chance that the campaign only made a slight difference, and plenty of people were voting to evict Jale anyway. She was seen as one of Helen's cronies, who'd abandoned her original friends to be part of the cool gang.

I am neither a tweenie (around 30 years out of that loop) nor an online campaigner but I do like her for some reason, unknown even to myself!

Sure, but on a vote to save, Pauline and Toya might have stayed in the house. In which case, Ashleigh would likely still be in bed with teddy, growing paler and sicker, too weak to fend off Danielle's 'hugs'.

I thought everyone was saying it was only the tweenes and jealous woman who hated her

Is this thread for real!? Ashleigh is the type of girl 'tweenies' hate! The tweenies are supporting the likes of Ash, winston and mark this year! Think ashleighs fan group is much more diverse!

It's funny that the clips i've seen today are of Ashleigh cosying up to Helen. Shame all those campaigners had to waste all that money, isn't it. To keep up their high standards they should really vote Ashleigh out at the nearest opportunity.

Tweenies do tend to campaign, or have the time for it.

I should have thought Winston would be the "tweenies" vote.

yep it has defiantly got a Josie and crab eyes feel to it.I wouldn't mind so much if she did anything in any way entertaining.

As for Helen winning, winning what?.........Helen does not care who goes.she has her pass to the final and that's all she cares about.she will walk out 5th on final night and that will be that

Well it was a close call, apparently, so the campaign may have made all the difference.

Interesting to hear Marlon was in fact right to hit the buzzer, though. Perhaps he's smarter, or, realistically, more psychic, than he's been given credit for ....

Well firstly some who voted didn't like Jale & preferred ashleigh so it makes sense voting that way campaign or not.

However this was needed not only for ashleigh but to protect other faves such as Chris & Christopher who might have been in more danger with the face to face noms plus it would have tipped the balance extreme;y into helen's team's favour.
That would have sunk the show - i would rather not be saddled with kimbot & crybaby for the rest of the show.
We need someone to root for left in.

Not everyone online is a tweenie. Some viewers of BB are old - at least 30 so i dont see what it has to do with it.

You may keep your illusions that it was an innocent campaign to keep Aisligh in, but when it's a vote to evict your campaign is necessarily a campaign against someone else which had to have reasons which seemed scurrilous, to say the least. I for one was very uncomfortable with the effects of that campaign on here and, though you may believe the intentions were good, it came across as a hate campaign against a person who in no way deserved it. Poor Jale has to read all that stuff today. Ashleigh is now friends with Helen so tell me was it really worth it?

Every eviction vote is a vote against someone. Maybe you shouldn't watch the show if that makes you so uncomfortable. The campaign to vote Matthew out the previous week was to p*ss Ashleigh off, he deserved to go as much as Jale did. No different.

No there was NO massive campaign leveled with hate against Matthew.
It's not the show that is making me uncomfortable.

It's well known that 'tweenie girls' tend to vote young 'ok looking' females out.
And as they compose a large part of the voting audience, I'm surprised that Ashleigh survived this week. (Think Tamara)
I voted to save Ashleigh, not because I think she's wonderful, but because, compared to the other three females left in there, she's an angel.

Yes there was. Why do you think he was evicted? And what level of hate has been directed towards Jale exactly? She probably got the least level of hate of all evictees.

Show me evidence were there was a highly organized campaign against Matthew/ in favor of Ash all around twitter, Facebook and the various forums. There was hardly even an inkling that anyone was in favor of Ash staying. Matthew went because many people lazily shrugged off voting as they assumed Ash was going anyway.

Ashleigh is the favourite of about 40% of the viewers in most polls, they just want to keep their favourite in. Not really anything devious or a conspiracy, just the least popular person left in a popularity based gameshow.

http://www.bbspy.co.uk/bb15/popularity-poll/week-5

Ashleigh 38.7%
Chris 12.7%
Christopher 4.7%
Jale 4.5%

I am not sure how it would more correct for the most popular housemate to be evicted while the least popular stays.

It's great to be able to chat with teenies online and nobody knows or cares that you're old enough to be their great great grandfather.
It keeps you young.
