Ah thanks. I'll give that a go.

I was also thinking of uninstalling TS3 as I don't play it any more. What's the folder for the store content - I can't seem to locate it.

Should be in the Electronic Arts folder in your My Documents same as the Sims 4 installation. The Store content downloads into there but you have to uninstall it all via the Launcher, which is a pain in the backside, as it installs into the core files rather than into a folder of its own (from memory).

City Living is brilliant, could be my favourite expansion yet. The apartments are cool, you can add lot traits now which are hilarious in some cases and the who new world is really spectacular.
Festivals are a lot of fun and there's the usual new items as well they've introduced, basketball court is cool, as is the bubble blower and you can sell stuff at a flea market/car boot sale type thing.

I'm a little annoyed that we had Get Together before City Living. CL looks like it offers a great deal more - or at least more that I'd be willing to play.

Just a shame that the bloat from GT - combined with W10 forced upgrade made me uninstaill.

Seen a couple of reviews - Curtis Paradis and LGR - and generally speaking they seem to agree, the open world was missing before, now its really obvious.

On the upside, it does look like there's some great new items in the pack - well apart form the talking toilet.

The open world doesn't bother me at all to be honest, the time it takes to zone is minimal and having an open world just put the games out of the reach of anyone who didn't have a gaming computer.
The lag in Sims 3 was absolutely shocking, so much so that it was unplayable without using NRaaS mods. Sims 4 doesn't have any of those memory hogs or leaks and is far smoother.

I'm surprised at you getting problems with the game on Win 10 after Get Together though, what spec are you playing with?

Well I haven't actually played the game on W10 yet. The forced updated pulled the rug from under the feet of the PC. Long story short, I've not re-installed the game since its all been fixed.

TBH I don't think I'd put Get Together back on, it was ok - the world was far better than that group function.

However, the siren-song of TS4 has started again with the trailer for the Vintage Glamour stuff pack..

The opportunities for hilarity with Get Together though are brilliant with what you can do in clubs!

City Living is exceptionally good though, I can highly recommend it, the lot traits make for some really amusing situations and there's tonnes of new objects and stuff to do.

I love the Vintage Glamour Stuff Pack, got that on pre-order already

Sims 4 runs really well on Win 10 for me, no issues at all.

It's no different to Steam really, it's a management system and you can put it into offline mode once you've started up Sims 4 and play without needing to be connected.

That's what I used to do, but I got the feeling that "offline" didn't mean the end of EA's connection - if you catch my drift.

Yeah it does really go offline, you just have to disable all the various different bits in the options. I played offline in hospital for nearly two months without any notifications etc, had to get the OH to take my laptop home to patch the game a couple of times.

Well that's good to know. I take it then, when they refer to the facts and figures of gameplay (ie. most popular world played it, most popular career played etc.) it comes from those who keep Origin online?

And I when I contemplate "going back in", I'm kind of put off by the size of all the add ons. I liked the Get Together world, bit I could do without the groups. Pity you can't pick and choose.

Yep, the stats are pulled from those who choose to enable the send data to Origin options. You can be online and still disable all online notifications, simply have it on for access to the Gallery.
I have all online options turned off in online mode, the only notifications I choose to receive are those from creators I follow.

As with any expansion, you don't have to use all the content. You can take advantage of loads of the things which Get Together brought without ever having to be in a Club

I know I'm bieng a bit harsh on Get Together as it was what I was playing when things got slower (which is more to do with W10 'upgrade').

I'd love to have the GT world, but not have the club element. Not going to happen, I know. But wouldn't it be great to have a ultimate sandbox mode - where you start a new game and get the options to choose the which elements you want. No aliens - no problem. Want clubs - you got it.

Heck, it'd be great if they'd also copy the lead set by SimCity aeons ago with the choice of start time.
Imagine starting a game at the turn of the last century and only having the mod-cons available as your Sim family goes along. (Naturally this would be tweaked to allow your specific family to transcend the decades, or you have a mulit generational famaily that spans the years).

Can you change a character's name? I created a couple of families based off of the G1 Transformers cartoon. I decided to make the Superion family based on the Aerialbots and accidentally named Silverbolt as Skyfire.

It wouldn't be too bad if I hadn't made them all siblings. Unless I just go with my imagined story flow and have Silverbolt as died at birth and no-one speaks of him. Also unfortunate for the character he turned out a little tubbier then I intend. It's hard not to look at that swinging stomach.

Starscream Seeker the neighbour I created with his two seeker brothers doesn't mind the flab though.
