Sports Season Ticket

Does anyone have any idea as to whether the Sports Season Ticket deal will continue for the foreseeable future? I don't want to find out it is only a one-off and then get myself stuck in to an 18-month contract, paying the over-the-top full rate for SS on VM when I could get it separately from Sky cheaper.

My current plan is the most basic calls package and 50Mb/s broadband, plus line rental saver which I'll continue.

So I'd pay £25/month for the first 6 months, then £45/month after that (plus £7 per month for HD as I don't see the point in paying all this money to watch sports in SD on a biggish HD TV).

So £32/month, then £52/month after that, plus line rental saver - not bad for the quickest broadband - not that I need it. I would downgrade - but there's no point as it's no longer part of the 'Big Kahuna' bundle so costs about the same.

I rung up today about it and I wouldn't save anything by buying the season ticket so was a bit surprised after all the hype

This is really confusing.

I'm on: upto 30MB broadband
TV:XL
M Phone
Sky Sports (SD)
Tivo

All this a is whopping £93 per month!

What's stopping me going onto Big Kahuna + Sports Seaon Ticket, which would work out as:-
£60.99 for Big Kahuna with line rental.
£150 for Sky Sports = £15 a month.

Total £75.99 per month

This is nearly a £20 saving and an upgrade on the broadband (although I can't pull more than 10MB around here so that's not relevant).

This sounds to good to be true, is it?

The only value I can see for VM here is to help retention and a guaranteed £150 up front (some people may move house or regularly remove Sky Sports from month to month)

You are correct, you can also save more money by doing line rental saver.

I get much, much more for £65.75 a month so that £93 a month is ridiculous.

So I've called and moved onto Big Kahuna at £88 a month. They are charging me £20 for delivery of Superhub 2 though. The Sky Sports Season Ticket can be added but I need to cancel my current Sky Sports package. I will wait until the arrival of the Superhub 2 , cancel my Sky Sports, register the hub which activates the Big Kahuna package, then call back and get the Season Ticket.

Big reduction here. Obviously new 12 month contract.

The advisor also said you didn't have to be on one of the Big Bundles to register for the Season Ticket.

Fletch, with Line Rental Saver I could save a further £4 a month indeed...not in position to splash out on that yet, and don't want to much exposure in-case have to move house to somewhere that doesn't have VM. (I'm assuming here Virgin would not be refunding/part refunding any up front payments in this scenario)

I took the season ticket today, no issues in regards to loyalty discounts or line rental saver like has been suggested on forums I've read.

The initial details online have also been altered regarding HD channels and what happens at the end of 10 months so good to see everything clarified clearly.

I decided to get the season pass so I can watch the cricket. Really helpful man (Manchester?). He put me on the big Kahuna from 100meg and I am £2 better off. Had to use credit card to pay £150 but I am really pleased with this deal and excellent service.

Does it cancel immediately, automatically run on to the monthly subscription charge? Are you stuck with it for 12 months and unable to cancel etc?”

I received a letter today that states that when the Sports Season Ticket expires, customers will automatically be put onto a rolling 30 day contract unless Virgin Media are told to do otherwise.

The letter was sent to me, even though I'm on XL and not a bundle, so it seems that this offer has been extended further.

This offer ends on the 1st of September.

I rang a few days ago. On TV XL with no discounts. They wouldn't let me add it without changing to the 150mb broadband I have no need for.

Their loss; I've now ordered one of those overseas streaming packs for the Premiership which will cost me half of the £150 for better quality pics.

There appears to be a lot of confusion at VM about this deal. Maybe it's why they're not advertizing it too extensively.

I'm on mates rates and was told by my VM friend that I could definitely add it. However when I rang on Saturday I was told that I would have to move over to one of the big bundles. I knew this wasn't right as my other friend on Mates Rates had already added it, however . . . the bundle was actually £8 a month cheaper than my mates rates! So i'm now paying just over £45 a month for XL tv 152mb broadband, whatever phone and an extra box.
