Totally wrong decision, even his own father said that he was not playing well at all. And he didn't throughout the whole tournament

Bizarre decision.

I can think of plenty of players who had a better tournament.

I think even he looked embarrassed to be accepting that.

Rodriguez or Robben deserved it over Messi.

The Lionel Messi award for being Lionel Messi.

That's what he won.

Not sure if I would have had Messi in my team of the tourni let alone as the best player.

What a total joke.

Just a sponsorship token offer I'm afraid.

Any football fan knows he was pretty poor throughout the tournament.

Agreed.

Mascherano played better for a start.

A nonsense offering really.

It was even picked before the final.

At least with the golden boot it can't be fixed.

When it comes to the World Cup, the golden boot is the only one that means anything.

I'd say Romero had a greater influence on Argentina getting through with some of his saves.

rodriguez played against weak sides, agree robben would of been my pick.
Rodriquez scored 5 goals against Greece, Ivory Coast, Japan, Uruguay and Brazil, and you think those are all weaker sides than Bosnia, Iran and Nigeria the sides Messi got his 4 against?
