George Michael has had quite a few, either solo, in collaborations or as half of Wham!

Cliff Richard

Rihanna will probably notch up 10 UK number 1s, at some point.

This is not a thread made for westlife, and yet you are very much consistent in inserting your HATE and BITTER comments to the lads.. isn't that hating and bitterness?? haha

you are right, this is not a youtube comment section.. so please stop the never ending hate comments for westlife,

THEY HAVE ALREADY DISBANDED, 14 number 1s accumulated already, so move on! you might not remembered any songs from them, but do not stereotype, because not all people in the world are like you.. remember they will not achieve that for nothing.. :P”

A wild fangirl (I assume) has appeared, and they aren't happy.

I personally didn't think much of them, but had no problem with their obvious large number of fans.

Rihanna with her current rate will do this in the next 2/3 years she's already at 8

Geri halliwell has had 10

Calvin Harris will probably get there too

Genuinely surprised by the will I am number one as the comments have been mostly negative around this song. I can only think of 9 of his number ones bit stuck with the 10th

shane is diffrent from westlife, so the "we can laugh at how THEY have fallen" comment is very irrelevant.

i am very much sure that whenever they COME TOGETHER AS A BAND AGAIN, they will have a sold out concerts in big venue such as croke park, which THEY USUALLY DO (like their farewell tour happened two years ago.)

you are such a hater are you? hahaha as ive said we have nothing to do BUT TO MOVE ON or hurt yourself for such feeling of disgrace and disappointments..

Having no. 1 basically means people love your music and they want to support you. I hated that they recorded so many covers, but the funny thing is, no one would have said a word if they just hadn't released them as singles. BUT many obviously loved those covers as well or else they wouldn't have had so many no. 1's. And guess what? Michael Buble does covers ALL the time apart from 5 original songs, and yet he is adored by many.

Westlife seriously have so much hate these days which is actually sad since they disbanded 2 years ago. They don't exist so why get so worked up and just enjoy in bashing a band that doesn't exist anymore?

And it's very much unfair to compare Shane's career with Westlife's - it doesn't mean they "have fallen", solo career and a band are 2 different things. As I said, no one can take away what they have achieved as Westlife, no matter how much people hate that.”

michael buble doesnt have 14 number 1s, maybe that's the reason why he doesnt get all the bitter bashing...

if there are unhappy people here, that would be obviously not me haha, it's the westlife haters who up to now can not move on with westlife achievements, and consistently insert hate comments about the lads...

that is very very bad to your healthy people... i am very much concerned honestly.

move on and acceptance are the key..

Come on guys lets leave Westlife alone.

After all they were masters at the art of standing up when the key changed in their songs, and no one would beat them in a kare-oke compatition after all the practice they had

i agree even if that was sarcastic..

your constant bashing only proves one thing, westlife is still hot!! haha

whenever they are mentioned, a lot of haters would surely pst their bitter comments about them, that's a sign of an artist who is still in to it

so if you really hate them, leave them alone

Not hating them, I am sure they are perfectly adequate singers......

Westlife aren't that bad. Had some decent tracks. Rather them than will.i.am. He is a case study why we need a Eurovision style jury to punish acts like him as he just makes random noises.

thanks for that honest, unbiased compliment.

there are really some people here who are so biased, hating, bashing other acts just because they are successful.

westlife can actually write songs on their own, aside from their best singing voices ability, they can really sing great compare to other bands.

I agree, some may hate Westlife, but you seriously can't say they are worse than Will.

I would just like to point out that from 14 no. 1, 8 were original songs - people here make it sound that they had 14 no. 1 with only covers which is simply not true. Also, from those 6 covers no. 1, it should be taken in consideration that: 1: I Have A Dream/Season's In The Sun were released as a double A side single so they were bought together, 2. They released Against All Odds because Mariah Carey wanted to record that song again (because she had that song on her album already) with them so she could break UK market again, so it would have been insane had they refused the offer 3. Uptown Girl was a Comic Relief charity single - on only 2-3 occasions has happened that Comic Relief wasn't a cover, so moan about that single is wrong.

The rest you just have Mandy, You Raise Me Up and The Rose as no. 1 cover singles.

So why get so annoyed that Westlife had 14 no. 1's? People just keep forgetting 8 original songs have been no. 1 , while 5 other original songs were in Top 5.

very well said, and i must say all of those number singles are all deserving number 1 singles.

flying without wings is one of the best ballad, love songs of all time from a boyband. you raise me up version of westlife has even surpassed that of josh groban.

it is just annoying that there are really people who tend to generalize westlife as an undeserving artist for their achievement, well infact, the lads have worked really really hard for it. comparing to one direction, they deserve all their achievements, talent-wise. just saying.

Shows how easy it is to get a number 1 these days. The number of 'new' artists on that list is(2000 onwards) way disproportionate to other decades.

I thought Abba must have had at least 10 UK number 1's, but looking at Wiki they've had nine, which is still an achievement

number ones mean nothing now only takes a few thousand or less to get to number 1 now
hence why so many records are getting broken.

any old crap can get to 1 now just look at one direction for proof

Thats simply not true - Westlife will be at least remembered for Flying Without Wings, World Of Our Own, and even with Swear It Again, If I Let You Go, Fool Again - just because you don't remember the songs, doesn't me pop fans don't.

It's slightly more than that! Will.i.am sold just over 70k last week to make #1. Sales figures are far higher than they were say 10 years ago where 20k was enough for a #1.

Despite what if often suggested, singles sales in the UK are pretty strong these days. It's albums which are struggling.

The bit in black kind of sums up part of the problem with Westlife and I am Billy. Great songs should be remembered by the majority of people, not just pop fans.

Take That, The Shadows, Madonna, Cliff Richard, The Beatles and Elvis all have songs remembered by a large portion of the population.
