I don't think its all that rushed at all. I started watching at the end of last year and there hasn't been any scene where Ste and JP have hated each in all that time. Maybe some people are still very attached to Ste and JP past relationships but the writers having been moving in the direction of bringing them together for 8 months or more.
In terms of the word love its being used in this context to mean want to start a relationship, not we going get heart shaped tattoos and start planning our wedding. Many people would not use love at that stage of a relationship, but they are. JP and Ste appear to be quite impulsive people. You can tell from the rocky start its not going hearts and flowers for quite some time.
