Phil's character assassination - unbelievable?
Stube

I don't believe he'd go to those measures. As Billy said, it's sick. One minute he's crying at Ian's grief of losing his daughter and nearly losing it at Billy thinking he could've killed Lucy, and the next minute he's thinking of dropping Lucy's twin in it. Would he actually do this?

I guess the good side is that it increases the drama and I guess this twist will contribute to Lola and Peter breaking up. Lola will hate Billy when she finds out...

He weeped over Heather's dead body and then covered up her murder. Ironically he was prepared to let Billy take the blame for it if I recall correctly (or maybe that was Archie's murder). I don't think this is out of character for Phil but it is inconsistent given his concern for Ian when Lucy died. How will Ian feel if Peter is locked up for her murder?

Phil is scum. Nothing is beyond him at this point. His character is a wreck.

Phil has always had moments of pure vileness.

I will never forget him lying in court about Lil Mo. He made out she was prone to violent outbursts! lol it was because of that she got sent down and the only reason he did it was out of spite.

The man is evil.

And TPTB expect us to regard him as some sort of antihero - he isn't - he is just scum that actually delights in totally destroying other people's lives.

If there was any realism about his character someone would have killed him over a decade ago.

But as Steve will never get any work outside of EE we are stuck with him 'owning' everyone forever.

Of course he would. This is Phil we're talking about.

It doesn't surprise me at all when you look at his past. He won't change his spots, ever.

I feel DTC's vision of Phil has been a not so good one. I think Phil for me went downhill when he cried when Lucy died. Because Phil would never do such a thing. That's not who Phil is. It crapped over a character who i have watched for many many years.

Yeah because it showed him as almost a human being with feelings, not the unstoppable superthug TPTB would like us to believe.

But he is now back to the utter piece of shit he always has been.

Was actually shocking, what a disgusting suggestion.

Did he not think that IAN has already been through enough as it is

I actually prefer to watch comical Phil than the 'I'm the 'ard man' Phil..
Still it is a good twist in the ole tale of Lucy Beale and it strikes me as something that Phil would consider..

Phil wll throw anybody under the bus to save himself or his family so it's completely in character as far as I'm concerned. What I find slightly unbelievable is that he'd care enough about Billy to help him as he's been happy to treat him like dirt and frame him in the past.

God i'd forgotten that. What did he have against Lil Mo? Was it because She was babysitting Louise when the attack happened?

Not in the same league as condemning an innocent person to Prison but I've never forgiven him for laying all the blame for their affair at Sharon's door - saying she'd chased him which caused Grant and Peggy to be utterly hateful towards her (though Peggy probably would have been even if she'd known it was mutual) and the whole community ignoring her. Poor cow wasn't even allowed at Debbie's funeral.

And stealing Roxy's money. You see he's even vile to his family - what chance does poor Peter have?

I agree but remember Billy is family and family pride and loyalty is a big Mitchell concern. Anybody who is not family is expendable. Billy did save Phil's life at one point too as I remember.

Phil has been shown to view Billy as expendable in the past - like when he was willing to have him implicated in Heather's death by taking his stag tee shirt but I suppose that just shows he is lower down the loyalty list than Ben and Jay - and himself of course. He also didn't care too much about bot hurting Phil and Lola (his family) when he wanted Lexi.

Steve does Panto and I'm sure he's very happy with that for now. He'll probably appear in stage productions more often if he ever leaves EastEnders.

Yes, it's all in character. And also. He has feelings for Shirl and he sleeps with his aunt, Rainie and blackmails her, he has feelings for Sharon and puts her husband in danger, then inadvertently has her battered, he has feelings for Lisa, then destroys her mentally and leaves her vulnerable next to the edge of a cliff!!! What chance has anyone else got!

Not to mention the way he constantly talks to Jay like something Om the bottom of his shoe and when he battered Jamie!

I hope Ronnie finds out about that and sorts him out.
