Well, most of them seem to be around in the media, what happened to just 'normal' people going in the house and not ones who want to 'add to their portfolio' (whatever that means) or 'advance their career' in getting their t**ts out / sing / be a Z lister 'celeb' etc?

I wish BB would go back to the earlier series

Work in the media has become the 'norm' in some shape or form. They're not all successful, enough to go into CBB, e.g Christopher vs bigger journalists such as Liz Jones.

Because Dexter Koh is taking over the world...?

Because no normal boy/girl next door would touch BB with a bargepole these days

The producers will be after people who will advertise the show. In other words, such and such who is appearing at an event, the sign will probably have on it that they appeared on this year's Big Brother. Getting absolute nobodies on to put in the house as new housemates won't do much to advertise the show if they come very close to the end.

I thought this myself, cant we just have normal people who no one knows like the Ch4 lot had?

I don't know... what happened to choosing normal, everyday people you might meet in your everyday life? I wish they would go back to that format.

Most HMs are scouted to ensure they'll generate headlines and thus interest for the show. Some are still auditioned but the trend in recent years is to include mostly scouted ones.

Did I dream it or did Pave say he had been on X Factor? It's driving me mad because he looks so familiar but I can't place him. Googled him but couldn't find any reference to X Factor.

There are lots of pseudo reality shows but only a relatively small number of talentless, desperate, wannabes to go around. Let's face it most people will become successful with hard work and dedication but there are a few hangers on who think they deserve fame and fortune for no effort as a birth right. Maybe BB is the best place for them as they then aren't ruining better shows on other channels.

Helen did sell her side of the story, for £40,000, Jenny got £80,000:

Then she sold the story of her life:

Then she sold a slightly different story of her life including the part about selling the story about Rooney:

Totally agree OP just mentioned very same thing on another thread.

They all seem to have been involved in the industry in some shape or form. It wouldn't surprise me if someone like Helen (the main charachter) actually got paid for going in. I'm sure there are plenty of more normal types that could go in. Any mix is bound to provide some sort of drama. Perhaps the auditions only attract those types? Or maybe all the normal people have families and steady jobs that can't be left behind.

Steven has on one of his online profiles that he's an actor by profession.
But it's hard to tell if he's just bullshitting or not. Is he really an actor or a high powered businessman? Or is he acting the role of a high powered businessman?

From what I'm aware, Ashleigh works in a clothes boutique shop or something, and just models in her free time.

I think Christopher wants to be a journalist, but I get the impression that he may be more of a blogger rather than a professional journalist.

Now that I DO NOT understand, some women had sex with a man that kicks a ball, so someone pays her 40k to say this in a paper? WHO CAREs????????!!!!!!!!!! Who the hell cares that a man & women who people don't even know had sex?! That's like me saying my neighbour had sex! You don't know them, neither do I!!

OH that makes me mad! I don't get it!

Glad it isn't just me! I chatted to my OH (who stopped watching BB as its just not as good anymore) and He keeps asking where the average people are with 'normal' jobs, and I always say they are too smart to want to go in! Or have a life and cant take 3 months out of it lol!
