I had the beginings of an idea, not completely thought through aso bear with me It's vote to win but you get two votes, a vote for the most hated and a vote for the most liked, each week the person with the least votes goes (hopefully the bland ones) at the end of the series both the most hated and most liked have a moment when it's revealed exactly which is which.

The winner receives the prize, the loser a terrible walk of shame. If you could keep crowd noise away and judging by the egos of some of these housemates or the self doubt of some of the nicer ones you may genuinely get a final moment when neither finalist knows what the outcome might be. Interesting?

I'm sure there are glaring holes in this.. feel free to rip it apart

Strict big brother similar to the BBAUS Big brother,no slouching in DR etc.

No more than 3 twists in the series.

Full uncut nominations live to replace one of the BOTS shows.

A BB supermarket to replace the shopping list, again similar to what they used to have in BBAUS.

No nomination interference but it must be at least 3 up in a vote to save.

Inject more fun into the house to balance out the drama.

Prefer HMs to come from auditions rather than agency or head hunted.

Difficult 72 hour tasks that go on through the night.

Use product placement to give prizes to housemates who win difficult challenges and a film premiere in the house for a group of housemates, basically things to entice competitive housemates.

Strict 3 strikes and out policy, making it very clear what is likely to cause a strike to be issued.

Massive campaign before and during the show to keep enticing potential viewers to the show.

Evictions need to be more uplifting so an end to the booing chanting.

A more intense build up to the final, allow housemates in the final to view a big tv screen with the events in news over past 10 weeks and include any good wishes by celebs to the housemates..also use the ghost voices at the end.

If producers want to freshen the format then introduce a 3 point nomination system..2 points issued to 1 hm and 1 point to another.”

Totally agree with the point nomination system .

Strict rules should apply .If nominations are discussed the rule breakers should be automatically up for eviction.

Ideas for the future -

Sack anyone involved with the plot on this year's big brother.
Sack whoever recruited the HMs

.......and replace them with human beings.

Hmm, that'll do for now

Real housemates.
Less stupid tasks (like it used to be), less tasks in general.
More showing of things like the shopping list and the random conversations that housemates had.
Less manipulation.
No scripted shite and fake story lines.
No cringeworthy music segments over footage.
Old school nominating with 2 or 3 people up every week, no manipulation to get 5 or 6 people up just so they get more money from voting.
A wider range of 'real' housemates in terms of age, financial background, racial background and basically no agency fame wannabes.
24hr live feed online and healthy doses of BBLIve on tv.
No meetings with producers behind the scenes, we have no hard proof of this but watching the show, you just get the sense that housemates are in constant contact with the producers, well it feels like that to me anyway.

Basically make the show like it was in the first few series before all the scripted shite and cheesy stuff was added, all the manipulation etc.
The rating only started to really fall in the later series when the show started going away from what it started as.

I had whole, top secret, format overhaul planned out to the nth degree, that married classic Big Brother with a more structured game-show element, but Endemol were just too arrogant to spontaneously get in touch and beg me to save their baby.

I was even prepared to be flexible about putting a deadly animal in the house.

But still they didn't call.

I might have to just make the show myself. Don't know if the garden shed will be big enough for all the housemates, and calling it Big Other may not be a feasible work around the copyright infringement, but it could really happen. I believe that.

Total concept reboot.

The days of being defensive over the format are probably largely over, when it leads to so much manipulation. So retrench and reinvent.

Some variation on the US rules maybe, without it being identical (so British pride isn't stung so deeply that people go on boards like this with gigantic rants about how they "aren't *******ing Americans"). But make some move to jump off the endless cycle of trying to manipulate the show via endless stupid twists just to keep fans heads in the game--that only happens because the producers know that a pure "popularity contest" gets boring as soon as the mean people all go.

Or try a Team format. Teams, with contests between them, where a member of the losing team is voted out. Yes, it's the US Survivor format moved inside a house, but so what? You could even have the public vote the person out, as long as it's based on membership on that losing team, and perhaps in that format people might actually vote based on participation in the challenges instead of who argues with whom or rows the most or least, or whatever.

Or a "public nominates, the house votes to evict" format. Sure that's still somewhat subject to the producers manipulating the public to keep interest, but at least it would be a slightly fresh format to the public.

Something, anything, just so the show isn't so stale. The US show had the SAME problem in a sense (that their rules were in place so long that they got stale). It's just a life-cycle of TV kind of thing, but made worse on the UK show in a sense because of how arbitrary and self-contradictory the production is seeming.
