I've just caught up on the second episode of last night's Emmerdale and the fight between Bernice and Katie was hilarious, if not a little over the top and camp but it was still funny writing and a good scene! nice to see some humour in soaps

It was a 100lb Ham and Cheese roll which is the kind of so called comedy this so called producer is expert at.

I'm all for humour in soap but it was awful.

I thought it was great. Bernice's acting was terrible though, but I can't help but love her!

That fight wasn't even the worst of Samantha Giles crimes against acting last night. That scene where she was trying to cry was almost laughable. I say almost because acting as bad as that should not be on prime time tv. The acting in ED has never been as bad as it is under this producer.

It entertained me! Yeah, it was camp and Samantha Giles' acting was gloriously and purposely over the top, but it was nice to have something a bit light and slapstick. I thought the episode was a bit of a snorefest up to that point really so it's nice that some soaps realise it doesn't have to be end to end grit and misery to qualify as entertainment and that some of us actually have a varied sense of humour and don't take the programme seriously all the time. The look on Chas's face when Bernice was saying she knows everyone finds her annoying was brilliant.

I just loved the way Bernice practically leapt on Katie after pushing her over.

I love Bernice the scene was great although not the best acting you'll ever see from her

I love Bernice she's a brilliant comedy character she might be over the top but that's part of her charm. Was nice to see self-righteous Katie get a long overdue slap as well.

Also agree with Chiltons Cane, regarding Katie.

If only Bernice could find a reason to do the same thing to Debbie, with or without sausages!

Totally agree with all that Batty. It is what it is - nobody was aiming for an Oscar here. But imo it was a funny scene, particularly as neither Bernice or Katie are known for their light-heartedness. I loved it and as you say, Bernice's awareness of her own 'annoyingness' was both funny and very poignant imo.

cringefest!!! Now I love Bernice but that fight/crying was dreadful. The way she hit Katie with those gross looking sausages was pathetic. And as for Finn being comedic, hes hopeless, just a splinter away from big brother Pete's "acting",they make Kelvin "cold rice pudding face" Fletcher look like Robert De Niro! lol

I think you misquoted there! You meant "EastEnders and Comedy" didn't you?!

Emmerdale and Corrie have ALWAYS provided good comedy in the past many years!

OK sometimes - a bit of slapstick occurs - but that is what soaps are all about! They are about fantasy and escapism!! We have to accept that!

Sorry but nobody mentioned EE, all they mentioned is comedy and ED don't go together and it's true it doesn't.

Totally disagree.

Emmerdale does comedy brilliantly. I have found scenes (when they are meant to be) with Bernice, Marlon, Val etc. funny.

I'll always remember the classic scene in the 40th live episode when Gennie was giving birth. ED can do comedy brilliantly.
