EE - Lucy's murder possibility
Firsty, this is my first post on here so sorry if I do anything wrong / say anything that has already been said before (Also, please excuse my username ... I made this account around a year ago but I've never posted)
When I watched yesterdays episode I started wondering whether Phil be involved with Lucy's murder? Don't get me wrong, I know in the past that Phil has never been able to kill anyone, but since he hired people to break into The Albert, there is a chance that he could have hired someone to kill Lucy? I don't know why he would do this, but I've noticed that there are a lot of possible links to the story - Phil comforting Ian (Disguised as sympathy, but it could of been regret or something similar), Lucy taking drugs (We all know about Phils past drug addiction), Ian and Rainie (Not directly linked to Lucy's murder, but Phil and Rainie have a past) and Phil trying to frame Peter to save Billy (Could be to take the spotlight off of his family and make sure hes safe) I also re-watched the trailer, and although I may be over thinking, there could be some hints in the trailer; The song is by Lana Del Rey, who has admitted to being alcohol dependant in the past (Just like Phil). Also, the trailer opens on an aerial shot above Phils house with his chimney being the only one with smoke coming out of it. As I've said, I've probably over thought all of these links and to be honest I don't personally think that Phil is capable of murder, but I think he could be strongly linked to it in someway. |

I think you could be absolutely right. I've thought this from the very beginning, but I've not said anything because I've been waiting for someone else to post a thread like this. Phil cried and cradled IAN BEALE in his arms. Phil Mitchell is one if the few culprits that would give the 30th anniversary the explosion it needs.

Although my only worry is that he would pin her death on someone else. Ronnie or even Jay for example. It is just the thing that this despicable thug would do. ![]() It seemed very much like guilt when he held Ian in his arms, we will just have to wait and see although he was prepared to frame a young lad for the murder of his own twin sister. So he really is capable of anything - no matter how low - to protect the bullshit Mitchell 'name'. |

Personally I'd rather they leave the mystery unsolved until the 50th anniversary and Phil can finally pay penance for it.

I thought this as well, I posted the other day in a thread that it could be Phil but I think it was dismissed! Ha!
Phil being so sympathetic to Ian and suddenly protecting Billy is what made me think he was involved somewhere along the lines, though I haven't quite decided what his motive would be.. If he was involved, he would have to, eventually get his comeuppance though and I also don't know if TPTB would put Phil in that position seen as he seems to the 'king'. |

I agree
making Phil involved would ruin the storyline, he wouldn't get what he deserves as he's too big a character to get rid of. I think it would be great to have Phil as the murderer AND to have him get away with it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was any character that has killed before. I wouldn't be surprised if it was any character that has joined in the last 5 years (especially the influx of characters we've had this year) and I would be shocked if it was someone very close to Lucy but I would be more disappointed. I think for the 30th anniversary it would be controversial and generate the explosion required. |

I haven't made that point. I'll make my point clearer

I think for the 30th anniversary it would be controversial and generate the explosion required. I know a lot of killers do get away with their crimes for quite sometime, but I'm not sure I would want that for this storyline. As it is running for so long and is supposed to climax for the 30th anniversary I think it would be better if the person who committed the crime was caught out and was jailed for it - giving the story a proper closure and giving Ian and the rest of the family some of the closure they need. I also wouldn't be surprised if it were a newish character. I also think that it would be very shocking if it were someone close to Lucy, but I don't think it would be disappointing, if anything it could be more explosive I think |

I would like it if Phil was the lead up to the murder, but he is the King, so won't face any punishment.
How I would like him to be involved is completely indirectly. I think he is the one who sent the text, say on behalf of Ronnie and Roxy (after Sharon finding evidence of Carl's murder) it is plausible that to make his life easier, meet a letting agent to find them a new place to live. Unforeseen circumstances meant he wasn't able to meet her, thus feeling guilty because if he HAD gone, he might have either of seen something, or stopped it happening at all. This also fits in with macho Phil, no wanting to admit that a squabbling bunch of women dictated his actions. |

I don't know who it could be because usually the killer would get sent to prison (or killed off).
I always remember DTC saying her death will be a 'game changer' which to me implies it'll be somebody close to her or close to the family. So yeah it could be Phil, or even Ben. |
