people keep saying that at least Helen is upfront with people , she doesn't bitch behind their backs etc.

no .

being an aggresive foul mouthed yob isn't being 'upfront' , it's just being an aggressive foul mouthed yob .

as for not bitching behind people's backs - of course she does - Jale had no idea about what Helen had said about her , Ashleigh heard her and kimbot bitching in the toilets , she never owned up to it , she's doing the same with Biannca now and she's denied it .

she told her boys never to trust Marlon , she certainly never said that to Marlon

It enrages me that people even consider "being upfront" as a good thing !!! Is this a generation thing or do any of the more mature viewers think so too?

She is just another hypocrite with limited self awareness. But then it's always been one rule for Helen and another for everyone else.

Nah she seems pretty upfront, and yet can still have the good judgement to confide with her friends in confidence too. Marvellous to see someone use their judgement and be able to do both.

Best of both worlds.

Lets hope she is met with some 'upfront' opinions during her eviction interview and BBOTS, I am sure she will appreciate the 'Upfront' honesty.

But she won't. Instead she'll be told what good viewing she was.

One of the vilest women ever on TV. And now we have the lovely Bonka to encourage her even more.

Says some things to their faces and bitches in private too! Perhaps BB could make a montage of Helen talking about others and show it to the house as part of a task. Perhaps in the week where miraculously she doesn't have protection of the free pass to the final. Oh sorry wait - that's not gonna happen!

I too agree with Dangermoose. It must be generational. I believe that being upfront is not necessary. If you can't say anything nice, say nothing!

Seems to me that Helen thinks that if she says that she's "honest" and "upfront" enough times then people will start to believe it.
Sadly some people do, I mean the newbies seem to have fallen for it hook, line and sinker.

She does both. Neither are particularly attractive. However, if everyone took the 'tell it to their face' approach to life, it would really be armageddon.

More like it's maturity. MOST people behave like that when they're young and stupid, and after it bites them in the backside enough times, they grow up and realize it's a life fail. Apparently Helen still hasn't matured past 21.

Tact, discretion and consideration of others feelings don`t see to matter to some and being 'honest' (rude) is considered to be a good quality for some reason. I would say it is partly generational although not all young people are like that.

I think these qualities are still valued in normal day to day life as much as ever, but on a TV show such qualities are considered 'boring' as we are watching for entertainment, not for how good or bad a person is.

I still see her as stuck in the 'tantrum toddler' stage.

I really don't get why people applaud people who "say it to their face" - to me it's always been a mantra that reality contestants use to excuse their questionable behaviour. I don't think I've ever heard someone say "I say it how it is me, to your face" - it's very clichéd and often undermined by the number of times they don't.

I've also noticed in life that the people who 'say it to your face' are usually alcohol fueled.

Is that in vini veritas or just a loud mouthed drunk

And if anyone dare's to 'say it like it is' to her......she just chants..

Always in the right
Always in the right
Always in the right.......etc...

Then rolls her eyes (another thing only she who must be listened to is allowed to do).

I'd like to see someone mirror that right back to her when she does it and see how she likes it.

Saying it to someone's face .. OK, there are times when it is best to point out to someone that something they have said or done can be construed as hurtful or inappropriate and this needs to be pointed out to them. This could and should be done by having a private conversation with that person.

Seems very strange to me that certain people feel the need to be surrounded by a group, boasting to them that they are "gonna tell someone to their face .. " why not just have the conversation? If you don't follow through you only make yourself look ridiculous

Helen is neither upfront or honest. Being upfront is not shouting over others so only your viewpoint is heard, intimidating people and belittling others. Being upfront is about taking someone aside and discussing your viewpoint as well as listening to the other person and being able to challenge someone in a positive way. Nothing Helen does is upfront shouting and screaming at someone whenever you have an audience and she always needs the audience of her spineless followers beside her chuckling beside her. The reason it never kicked off with little Chris was she knows he is not intimidated by her or immature enough to play into her behaviours. All her behaviours are very childlike and because most of the housemates especially Christopher respond to her childish behaviours they too lose the ability to deal with them so resort to childish behaviours or quickly backdown and retreat to avoid it escalating. And while this often seems like the better idea just to get out if the situation it reinforces Helen's behaviours that she is right. It's only when she is pulled in by big brother and reprimanded basically like a child being told off that she can then go and reflect on her actions. She then can apologise but takes the stance that " I know when I'm in the wrong and I can admit to what I did wrong" which is total twaddle as she needs the authoritative figure of BB to point it out. Her lack of respect for others means it doesn't really matter what or how she treats them as she justifies herself by constantly then going round her groupies pointing out her perception of the incident knowing on the majority of occasions none of them will challenge her in any way. Mark on a few occasions and Winston have pointed out things to her but she always excuses her behaviour deflecting onto others.
What's interesting is reading others viewpoints and the childlike perception of an eye for eye again as a justification that two wrongs make a right. What's a scary reality is more and more people seem to think that is the way forward.

Not entirely generational. Plenty of older clients of the Kyle show trot that particular line out.

I think that attitude is part and parcel of the issue being discussed!!!! makes you no better than you claim she is.

Apparently she told her she was a 'f***ing embarrassment' which, I thought, summed Helen up nicely.

Of course, this wasn't shown on the HL show and I only found out about it on here.
