I remember looking through the vacancies on an acting website, a few months before this year's show started. There was an advertisement for BB housemates! This is why we have the type of housemates we have. They were trying to find actors / singers / models.

Not sure if you knew that

Do they still ( supposedly ) go up and down the Country looking for 'normal' everyday working people to be house mates? It doesn't seem that way, does it!

How many of last years were 'Media Type' as well?

I think they probably contact agents and advertise on similar websites that I mentioned above. This is why we have Z list celebs.

Indeed. They still go through the charade of auditioning, but probably no more than one or two housemates get in this way these days. It's an utter sham.

I suspect they have to do this. Interest in BB plummeted in the general public after - at a rough guess - BB5; interest in being a BB housemate is even lower so the auditions can't possibly throw up enough potential candidates to fill a house and make it worthwhile C5 investing the cash.

I don't care how they get the HMs, to be honest. As long as there are people to hate with a white-hot burning loathing, it doesn't matter to me

I wasn't aware, no.
It does beg the question are the housemates being paid acting fees, and therefore is this is essentially an acting job?

Never mind what work in the media housemates may get after BB, this for all intents and purposes is the media work.

I think they just got names from Dexter's little black book this year.

I think most have agents:

Winston has been seen in EastEnders
Mark has studied drama/acting
Ash is a model (God knows how!)
Danielle - well, we all know about that dirty dog
Helen is a celeb shagger
Kimberley worked for playboy
Pauline used to tour with Kylie
New girl Zoe is ex Pop Idol
Anymore?

Seems most of this years lot are used to being in the media for one reason or other - gone are the days of your average innocent Joe Public!

Why don't BB just tell us this fact though?!

I remember my outrage in learning some Hms were "fast-tracked"! seems a lifetime ago.

I think the walls between the normal BB and the Celeb version are slowly bluring.

You missed out Chris, he's an actor, and Ashleigh is a model, Toya is a TV presenter, & I expect Tamara was some sort of wannabe actress/model.

Jale, Christopher, Steven & Dav seem normal folk.

Your comment is a bloody farce.

They've been doing this for a while now. Big Brother has no longer been a social experiment since the late 2000s at least.

Beg to differ, there's nothing 'normal' about Steven. He's a weirdo.

The only remotely normal person was jale but she still must have applied by an advert on the acting pages, or agent with the being no open auditions.

I miss the shelf-stackers and bus drivers. They were a lot more normal than these screechy wannabees.

Ash has aged about 20 years in six weeks. Talk about haggard.

Didn't he say he did it at A level. Lots of normal everyday people have a drama A level it's nothing special.

And strangely enough these 4 are 1000 times less annoying than the other wannabees.
