To think I used to find Steven quite funny, the laugh at him, not with him kind of way.
Now he could quite possibly be my most hated housemate.

I don't consider Steven particularly controlling. I think he's just insecure and needs a lot of reassurance. He seems terrified to be hurt and made to look a fool so is a tad paranoid. Kim must be a nightmare for an insecure guy as she gives so little away. She says she loves him but it doesn't come across and it makes him overly clingy.
I actually think Steven is a nice guy. He is nice to everyone, he tries really hard to do the right thing and he genuinely wants to be a good person. If he knew he was regarded as controlling, I'm sure he would work on himself to change that. I've read countless books on narcissism and I don't think he fits the profile. Does anyone agree or am I alone? ![]() |

i think its possible you just may not have met a steven, many of us who dislike him have.
he's controlling and manipulative of everyone in house, During that judgement task Steven was the loudest and constantly was trying to take control and tell the others what HE THINKS and that they should go with HIS ANSWER. The aggressive trying to get everyone to raise their hands for Chris, when it was CLEARLY himself was an attempt to confuse. He doesnt ever seem to have a real conversation with people, its more like I think this, I think that...what do you think? okay well heres where you are wrong and i'll tell you why. He was the first to Shitstir with helen and danielle that first week and is too cowardly to face the music, he ran to go outside when caught at it. I my only question is why kimberley is standing for this treatment. She heard the chants to get steven out, she needs to separate from him and "hang out" with the new girls. Men like Steven go on the charm offensive, we saw this with Pauline in the first week and he pretends to be Mr nice guy and the gentleman all the time when secretly he is a smarmy, nasty, lying control freak. I never liked Steven in that first week and my opinion has only got worse of him. It's probably easier for us as viewers to see, watching in on what is said and taking it in, whereas people living with him would see him in a completely different light as they do. My only shock is if the new housemates have seen so much as they seem to know a lot about Kim (well Pav does anyway) why do they not see Steven as we do? I am thinking that with Pavs attitude to Kim he is also a control freak as well, or is it his upbringing of what he thinks of women, it's ok for men to have sex in the house but not women? I think the whole sex business in the house is cringey but it seems that Kim is looked down on over this but not Steven. But that is the norm on here anyway. |

Other HM's have said that he is pleasant. They are living with him 24/7. We only see snippets of his personality, mostly unfavourable.
He does seem to be playing a game - which was proved, when he was quoted as saying - He would have sex in the house, in order to win the money....strange comment, as viewers are very suspicious of House ' Romances.' ![]() Then, when challenged, he promptly said that he would burn the money - having no need of it. Why didn't he say that he would donate the money to charity ?? I wonder !!

We all have our opinions but, maybe, you should read up on 'sociopathic behaviour'. Sadly, Steven shows these traits. He has schmoozed all of the HM's and most have fallen for it, the most recent example being Zoe whom now says she really likes him because he opened up to her. IMO he was manipulating her into feeling sorry for him; opining that he is misunderstood & will be evicted this week (earlier having been party to the discussion where other HM's proferred that the three new HM's would be choosing this week's evictee). Most of his conversations are centric to him and his feelings. Where was his attempt to comfort Kim, (whom he supposedly loves so much) when she was crying? He's a master manipulator who has consistently tried to turn HMs against Chris, knowing that Chris cottoned on to him from the start. Now he's doing it with Pav. He transfers onto Kimberley all negative thoughts others have of him but it was quite telling that he thought he would be judged as the least sincere HM. Betting that Mark will be next on his hit list as I think Mark doesn't like him now. This guy is not to be trusted and is NOT a nice young man at all.

I cannot see what there is to like. I genuinely consider him hideous and vomit inducing. I am no fan of Kimberly but I hope there's someone on the outside willing to care for her and get her away from his slimy, bogey ridden clutches. He completely manipulates her and I do believe that is because of his insecurities but it's borderline abuse.

I have no interest in the Steven/Kim stuff and don't think either are coming across that brilliantly from what I've seen - but beyond that I don't dislike the bloke, certainly worse people in there. He seems alright most of the time and tries to talk to everyone
It did sum him up for me the other day though when he had a really nice conversation with Danielle but then when he told Helen something about it she said Danielle was just arse licking, and then Steven's tone instantly changed and he agreed with Helen. He's potentially a nice enough guy but he seems a bit to eager to fit in at times |

He's a head case, even if we are seeing his worst bits, they are so deplorable he needs moving from Bates motel and into American Horror story season two. |

Genuine question: What books are you speaking about and why the interest in such a specific topic?
. Fair enough! Just popping back to answer question above. Basically if there's a book about narcissists, sociopaths or psychopaths on Amazon, I've read it. I'd say I've read at least 50 books on the topic. The reason - 1) I think one of my exes may have been a narcissist b) A few years ago I befriended a conman going under a false name who stole my money. I ended up following his criminal trail (via the internet) all over USA and Canada and giving info to the police. So I'm kinda interested in narcissists and sociopaths. |

Back to Steven, though - I wasn't saying he doesn't have his faults. He's self-absorbed (aren't they all?), insecure and I can do without the eyebrows but I still think he means well. Biannca seems incapable of letting another person get a word in and frequently talks over them, so I'd say she's more self-centred that Steven. He seems genuinely interested in his housemates and their welfare some of the time. And he's only 23. Anyway, I'm done defending him. I don't like him that much!

He wasn't genuinely interested in Kimberly, or her welfare in last night's show. As has been said several times, it is all done one on one. People very often don't believe said person is capable of that behaviour, because they hide it so well, until it does actually become blatently obvious. |

I'm not even sure his mum likes him. She admitted he is cringe, she must be so embarrassed, unless she's brought him up this way.

I agree with what someone said earlier. He's just a bit of a selfish plonker. I personally don't think it's more sinister than that but I respect other people's opinion that it is. |
