So I was on the phone yesterday to a regular bots "celebrity" guest (I use the term celebrity lightly) and she has been waiting for her payment for appearing on BOTS for some time now. Firstly I didn't realize they paid the celebrity guests and secondly why is it taking so long for them to pay up? Although she was moaning she is appearing again on bots this week.

If this is true (your friend) then its nothing to worry about. If they are paid down the line they will be informed before hand when they are being paid for their appearences and if they didn't tell them with the amount of Z Listers that appear I guess someone would have made a big deal out of not being paid on time by now.

She is not my friend. It was a business telephone call. I was just shocked when she mentioned not having the money from appearing on bots and waiting a long time. Thought it was odd.

Productions always take ages to pay up, this isn't news. Is she new to the industry, because if she isn't I'm quite surprised she hasn't come to expect to wait a long while.

I don't think she has much money so I think she was just stating that it takes forever for her money to go in to her bank. Just having a little moan. Sorry, I don't know anything about it myself I'm just a small town dude. I just didn't think they'd get paid for doing something like that and if they did get paid I thought they'd within a week or so. :/

What's their fee? Always wondered...

The show hasn't been on for months so is tis outstanding from a previous series?

Has she presented her invoice? I would expect the process to be one of the personality or their booking agent presenting an invoice to the production finance department. Then it gets paid (subject to it being in order etc.) on a 30 day or 90 day payment period according to the booking contract.

Its not strawberry picking where a few oncers are pressed into your hand at the end of the week no questions asked.

I recall a figure of £100 per Bots being mentioned some time ago.

its £500 average.

i can only imagine £100 being paid to the lowest of the low low. like some obscure ex-contestant who just has a regular job now

eek! it's not that much is it - do they pay travel on top of that? To continue the super-nosey thread how much of that would an agent take % wise?

How is £500 not a lot? BOTS is only on for an hour!

It's 500 for barely a day of work , hardly slave labour.

£500 for appearing on TV is cheap.

I wouldn't accept that to "expose" myself on TV.. I suppose they don't care because they already have but still, I think it's not worth it.

Haha I'm marketing a product and this particular client wanted to talk direct rather than through her agent.

£500 seems a bit much to me.

I am sure the guests on This Morning only get £50. I remember when Jade Goody was interviewed following the Shilpa debacle they made a point of saying she had waved her £50 fee.

Big companies often treat freelances like shit, I refused to freelance for a major - and I mean huge - company because they wouldn't pay their freelances for months at a time and people had to really fight to get what they were owed. They knew they could get away with it and still have these same people do work for them because there was so little work to go round and so many people fighting for it that they could simply get away with it.

ok, as an hourly rate it *sounds* fantastic but they're not working every hour, I doubt they're working every day or even perhaps every week. When you look at it that way, and then consider agent's fees... these low-end celebrities aren't exactly coining it in are they?

It still beats my office job where I'm earning just over half of that amount a week after tax lol although in saying that, I wouldn't ever do a "job" like that out of principle unless we're talking BIG money, in which casr my principles would be non existent.

Crikey I must get myself on This morning The Bots guests do well then considering they have very little to say - I often think to myself that 3 guests on the panel is too much for the little amount of time they get to speak

but when you consider that tax and agent's % still have to come out of that £500... your office job which is regular starts to look a lot more attractive - and you can post on Digital Spy at 4:30 in the afternoon!

how much of the £500 do they really get to hold in their hot little hands? I bet it's not much more than £250/300 and if they're only getting a couple of jobs a week... one hell of a precarious existence.
