I think Artem choreographed more in hold in that one dance with Lea than he did in the entire series with Natalie!

I wasn't an enormous fan of Artem's choreography on Strictly (apart from his first series, when it was new and fresh and not a rehash of his previous choreography) but his choreography will suit DWTS much better than it did Strictly.

Oh dear, Lolo. Just agree it went a bit wrong and get past it. Going on and on and on about it doesn't come across well. Take a lesson from Betsey, she just accepted it went wrong and dealt with it. (Betsey looked devastated at her scores. Hopefully she'll do better next week if there aren't any malfunctions.) I'd like to see Betsey & Tony get through a routine without it going wrong. I don't really expect them to get very far but for Betsey's sake, I'd like her to know she had one routine that went well before she's eliminated.

I know the judges really liked Sadie & Mark, and Bethany & Derek probably have the support from the voters to get really far but I prefer Lea & Artem, Alfonso & Witney and Randy & Karina. So far, they're the three couples I'd like to see in the final, but that could change as the competition progresses and we get to see the couples doing different dances. (If Alfonso was female and on Strictly, he'd be blasted for being a ringer but I don't care about his previous dance experience, I really enjoyed watching him. I do agree, though, that if he's that good on week 1, where's left for him to go?)

I'd really like to see Emma paired with a partner with more potential next series. Even though she and Bill got to the final, Emma hasn't yet had a partner with the potential to win.

I found what they said about Lolo and Keo very interesting.

As they rightly said, Lolo is an athlete rather than a performer. When something goes wrong, a performer covers up and moves on, while for an athlete it's it's wrong or it's right, you win or you don't. In that respect, athletes see things differently, so Lolo was upset and reacted like she would to losing an athletics competition, which isn't necessarily the best way to present yourself on DWTS.

As they also rightly said, Keo is completely new to DWTS and didn't really know what was flying either, he was as much deer-in-the-headlights as the celebs are. Lolo might have been better off with a more experienced pro. We saw that with Betsey and Tony, where Tony simply cut his losses when their routine went wrong and instead came up with something else to move past the hiccup and give the routine a proper ending, when he told Betsey to do her signature cartwheel and splits. It shows that's it's a very good idea to have the new pros start off in the dance troupe to find their feet in DWTS before they become competing/teaching pros, especially if they don't have any other reality competition experience, which Alison and Artem both have.

Agree with you memmh. I haven't listened to Afterbuzz yet, but I do think Keo's inexperience showed, and not just in handling the disaster in the ballroom, but also in the interviews and surrounding blather. In one of the interviews (GMA?) that Karma posted, when asked about his first experience on DwtS he really should have talked more about Lolo and how great she was to work with, yada, yada. It's a bit yawn-worthy, but I do think there's a game you have to play.

Lolo seems a bit of a nightmare, but I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. It's harsh that anyone has to go after a single dance and no chance to restore a little bit of pride.

I didnt like seeing Serge slate Sadie yesterday on the afterbuzz tv show; saying that she has some kind of hidden dance experience ; the whole time that they talked about her it seems like they were just picking on her and I didnt appreciate that; There is such thing as natural ability and some people seem to forget that. That recap didnt do him any favours and to Val and J since he is in that " clique ". He was heavily biased towards Val and Maks as well and that little dig at Derek ? Cmon now !!!

Speaking of Val and J, I want them gone !!! Sick and tired of them already ; I hate that fabricated showmance ; whatever happened to working hard, having a good time and just focusing on doing a good job without having to resort to a fake showmance ? Yes sometimes the show can push some celebrities in doing that but cmon now, since they have been paired up together , they have been at it so it is NOT the show doing in this case;
Oh and its incredibly tacky and inconsiderate to do that when she appears to have a longtime BF (I dont care what is their arrangement but it doesnt look good ) ; it looks very bad on their part.

Val seems so desperate to win a mirrorball and wants to go down the Maks/Meryl route; He and J are just like Val/Kelly 2.O and Bleurghhhh !!!! I hope that they are a part of a shocking exit this season; Other than them, I like pretty much EVERYONE LEFT; Great partnerships and personalities.

Im glad that my original fabulous, lovely duo , the brothers Derek and Mark have great partners/contenders that I can support ALL the way this season

Oh and Poor Keo ( he seems so lovely, cute...) ; hopefully he gets another chance next season and that he gets ample time now to sit back and watch how the show works; I tend to agree with the afterbuzz tv ladies; I think that his inexperience (on live reality tv shows ) play a little bit in Lolo disadvantage; I guess you live and you learn ....so yeah I think that she might have done slightly well with another experienced pro (Maks or Tony ); I didnt even think about that at the time but good points from them.

I thought the show was easilly the worst in recent memory. So many mistakes were made, so many things didn't work.

The cast is a huge disappointment. Not only unknowns but the general dancing level was more Strictly than DWTS.

Lolo made a total fool of herself, it was tough to watch. And Keo? Come on. A bit of an insult to the dozen or so male pro's slumming it in the troop (or on strictly).

Betsey at least sold her car crash of a dance. I particularly liked the classic Tony move of abandoning his partner when disaster strikes. Wont even attempt to help. Found it rather absurd that he was described as the perfect white knight for such occasions on Afterbuzz. Because in the dance I watched, he just sat back and watched her. Much like for Martina Navratilova.

I also found Artem typically awkward and weird. I still suspect he has a problem..

But the main issue I had was the constant mistakes on a production level. I've never seen so many crew members running away from the shot or simply working on the dance floor. And Erin had a nightmare too.

Oh and Carrie Ann's face for Bethany! Quite the contrast to her attitude towards all the guys she fancied. Most of whom were much poorer at the actual dance.

I did not have a problem with that cause I like how both shows present the dance. (However DWTS does show them better) I found though the quality was not as good to be receiving 9's on the 1st week. It was just totally over the top.

to me Strictly always started at a lower level as more DWTS has more people with background but their standard remains the same throughout whereas strictly show improved and actual dancing not smoke and mirror hiding faults and technique with flashy showmanships.

Probably the same genius who decided in week 6 last season to have Drew and Cheryl dance their Tango right after Meryl and Maks danced theirs.

Another lousy decision is giving Antonio and Cheryl the Rumba in week 2. Didn't see much hip action in their Cha Cha so Rumba could be disaster. Cheryl will need to pull off a minor miracle.

Totally agree. On the whole the production value has dropped considerably IMO. Must be down to cost cutting. It does the show no good. And I miss the singer with the big boobies (DWTS' equivalent to the Man in the Hat).

I've had enough of those conservative homophobic christian contestants. Bristol Palin was more than enough of that ilk. And now there were even two of those, Lolo and that faux redneck girl.

Just me who keeps forgetting there's four judges now? Each time I go on the Wikipedia page to have a nosy at something, I see the scores and kinda go "WEEK ON... oh yeah, wait."

I felt a bit sorry for Lolo but I'm glad she's gone- she was giving me Hope Solo vibes and nobody wants to go there again.

Shame she didn't get a second week to possibly redeem herself, and, more pointedly, a second week of Keo who looks tremendous fun.
