Thanks for the info, Dancefan! I had no idea he produced Big Brother in 2000
![]() I'm for every DWTS conspiracy theory there is (and most of Strictly's) but I'd bet a pretty penny that Conrad was fired from DWTS. Or at least asked to move on. There was a celebrity he had a huge row with - and said celebrity was eliminated first in a previously unannounced "double elimination". This celebrity - gosh I can't remember his name - Sean Avery I think - a hockey player? Anyhow this guy went to the press and told about the fight and said he believed he was kicked off the show because of it (which means they ignored or changed the rules due to Conrad's whims). The very next week it was announced Conrad was moving on. And he got a deal with another network, Fox, which I'm not sure would have been possible if it had been his idea to move on (I bet the contract would have prevented that, unless he was fired.) P.S. Wow - more info (that I didn't see when I wrote the above) about Rob and Fox, which I also didn't know, which casts doubt on my theory - but it was just too coincidental about the fight, Sean speaking out about it in the press, and the announcement the next week that it would be Conrad's last DWTS season. I like to think it's true he was ousted anyway - and I'm pretty thrilled about Utopia's troubles ![]() No idea when they approached Conrad to do Utopia, but with a $50,000,000 investment I bet it was much earlier than April, when he made the announcement he would be leaving DWTS. IMO Sean Avery would have been the first eliminated no matter what. He was dour and showed no redeeming qualities at all, that I could see. However, if he was indeed promised they wouldn't show his infamous rant, then they were wrong to include it in his package. No idea who made those decisions but there are layers of editors and supervising producers and currently four Executive Producers, as well as two or more Co-Executive Producers. |

He was beloved by Derek but I wonder if all the pros loved him? I think he mistreated Alec Mazo, Kym Johnson (sat out after winning with Donny because she asked for more money - similar reason to Alec's treatment, or so go the rumors), Dmitry Chaplin, Tristan MacManus... Everybody I ever liked he seemed to screw over so I'm admittedly biased against him though. But believing what I do, it's enjoyable to watch Utopia struggle. I guess it could regain its balance -- and in any case, I'm sure Green will happily move on or retire rich -- but I can't help indulging in a bit of schadenfreude

![]() Kelly Monaco said right in the DWTS ballroom in Season 10, in a conversation with Tom Bergeron, that she called Alec "The Iceman" and so disliked working with him that the show offered to replace him and give her another pro! We saw some his rehearsal footage with Toni Braxton and Natalie Coughlin showing clashes. So I would not be surprised if Deena Katz, not Conrad, decided to limit Alec's role on the show in the future. Erin Andrews seemed to refer to Deena Katz when she said casting tried to discourage her from wanting to be paired with Maks, telling her, "We want you to have a good experience." But she insisted she wanted Maks, so she got him. It's easy, and tempting, to imagine things that never happened, and to believe things to be that are either not true or never shown to be true. I think that may be the product of a fertile imagination that tries to set out reasons for any given scenario. Such imaginations could probably rake in big bucks writing blockbuster screenplays, but as far as facts, I have seen nothing to support the idea Conrad is at fault for any of it. If I find out differently I will share it. |

Maybe so. I do enjoy blaming him - he's the top guy, after all. And if hating him is wrong, I guess I just don't wanna be right. In any case, it's fun watching him fail since I do blame him for a number of things and I think it's possible I'm right about some of it.

I can try to guess who makes certain decisions - and could very well be wrong - but at the moment I suspect Brooke's firing may have been at the behest of Lisa Berger, formerly E! President of programming who replaced the (fired) ABC Reality head, John Saade. (Hey, when ratings go down, the axes fall. Many, many reality execs have been shown the door when viewership went down. It went down for all networks, not just ABC). It could be just a coincidence that Berger came in, and within weeks, Brooke was out. Did Lisa Berger have anything to do with Harold Wheeler and his orchestra getting the axe? No idea, but I'd look at her first since those changes all happened right after Berger assumed power. Although, as I always caution others, just because something happened after something else doesn't mean it was any way related to it. So perhaps Berger is innocent and had nothing to do with those firings. I have always liked Conrad and found him to be both kind and candid in interviews. In fact I'd say all the major players at DWTS must be good people or they wouldn't have lasted so long. But I can't stand the concept of the stupidly-named Utopia and will be happy when it's cancelled.

![]() Seeing Utopia crash and burn has been one of the most satisfying things about the new season. Chuckled over these comments too: "I don't think there was a single person on the show whose butt I didn't want to kick." "This show is such a waste of air space. That's all I've got."

![]() If some were really going to escape society and build their own, they would (1) Have a leader, or a few leaders; (2) Want only compatible people to join them. They would not invite those who not only didn't share any of their beliefs but would do nothing but argue and bicker. Instead, Fox's -- John de Mol's - idea is that there are no leaders, no common principles or ideas, in fact quite the opposite, just people destined to yell at each other. The bulk of the nearly $50,000,000 reportedly spent went to landscaping the area cut out from a public forest not far from Los Angeles, near Magic Mountain theme park. Fox just announced they will begin having cast members vote several out, and vote in several newcomers. Are they really not planning an end to this sham? Latest comments on Variety: "Can’t put lipstick on a pig. Fox is suicidal if they don’t nix this show immediately before it does anymore damage to their Tuesday night line-up." "Put a fork in it; this turkey is done." "There’s no such thing as “creating a new society.” Just because you isolate a group of circus clowns in the hills of southern California doesn’t mean they’re going to do anything different or unique from what other humans are doing. They’re going to need housing, beds, bathrooms and food. There’s nothing remotely “utopian” in that nor will there ever be. "The only people who should be “voted into exile” are the Fox execs who fell for this piece of crap." |

Sadie and Mark are dancing to the " Married Life " from the movie UP ; That song is PERFECT for a VW.
Beth and Derek are dancing to Singing in the Rain : He most likely pulled some serious strings to get this song; We still dont know whether it will be the Waltz, VW or Jazz....either way, Im sure he will be memorable. My other 2 favorites : Alfonso and Witney.....Im still confused. Len said that they were going to have the VW now his wife said that he has the Quickstep .....which is which ![]() Tommy and Peta have the Argentine Tango and thats all we know for now..... Looking forward to Monday

10s is way too early so soon in the competition; I wouldnt even want that for him even though he is one of my favorites because where would he have gone from there
![]() ???I think that Julianne is OK; I like her constructive criticisms even though I still think that she still has NO business being a judge in the first place anyways but hey...its what it is; She is great. But she needs to cover up a little ![]() ; I thought that Mormons were conservative ![]() |

Alfonso's wife was right. He has the Quickstep. Singing in the Rain is going to be Jazz. Edyta and Joey did a Foxtrot to it in Season 3.

I don't think she has no business being a judge. I agree it is odd for her to judge Derek so I understand why people don't think it is fair. But in terms of qualifying as a judge, it makes more sense than Alesha Dixon becoming a SCD judge when she isn't a professional dancer. I miss Julianne dancing though. The pros are all great dancers, but she always stood out. Her and Derek dancing together is a treat.

The fact that Sadie's favourite so far disappoints me greatly. She's not the best, she's probably not in the top 4 so far (Alfonso, Bethany, Janel, Lea, minimum are better!) but I can guarantee she's top because she's a southern American who bashes the bible! Bristol Palin all over again!

No she is way different than Bristol...On a performance level she is right up there with Alfonso....and on a dance level as well....She is extremely likable plus she has a very lovely partnership with Mark....those are 2 of the main reasons of her success... I haven't seen Mark being this happy with a celebrity since Shawn Johnson ![]() and that was in season 8 . He looks so genuinely happy and upbeat this season...Im LOVING IT !!!
