I think they will be just fine. The only puzzling thing to me is that I saw a few bits of their lifts and tricks and those didn't seem like any burlesque dancing I've ever seen. It didn't look like it quite fit, but then I trust Artem's judgment.
Burlesque dancing is more a solo dance so anything they do will look difference.

Yes I think they will be fine too. It's probably Burlesque inspired, but like most dances on DWTS not 100% pure, how diluted a performance, is down to Artem. Could be an opportunity for him to go all out, as he is with Janel, so why not showcase, his and her abilities. I felt in their interviews, Janel seemed more animated and natural with Artem, than I've seem her with Val.

MARK ALWAYS GETS HOSED WITH THE SCORES

THEY WERE UNDERSCORED TONIGHT WITH THAT HIP HOP !!!

Love Derek but I prefered Bethany with Mark ; I think they had more chemistry together; Mark really brought her personality in that dance !!! LOVED IT !!! She deserved a couple of 9s !!!

Was THAT Burlesque ??? SLEAZY , clunky lifts, hated that number......Apologize to your father ? what about your boyfriend ?

I think that Artem works well with Lea; Didnt like his partgnership with Janel.

Alfonso was UNDERSCORED as well !!!

Jessie J is surprisingly very good; She should be back .

I HATE THIS EPISODE !!!

Lea and Sadie please save this night !!!

Awful show tonight

Enjoyed : Bethany, Sadie, Alfonso and Lea .

I also think that the judges were too harsh towards Jonathan.........

Oh and Jessie J was the best guest judge they ever had imo.

I loved Janel and Artem together their routine had SO much chemistry! But Lea looks a lot more comfortable with our Arts, so I'd like them back together right away

Also, Julianne needs to stick to judging the celebrities and refrain herself from making personal comments !!! She keeps throwing little digs at Mark seasons after seasons !!! Enough already !!! You're there to judge the the celebrity and NOT make personal observations about your EX boyfriend !!!

Nobody asked you to compare your brother and longtime EX JUST Stick to judging their celebrities !!!

See this is exactly why I don't like judges with former personal history with the pros on the panel !!!

I'm really starting to miss Len on this panel

Hi edy

Hmm, I felt like I watched half a routine with Janel and Artem, there was chairography, liftography, but barely any dancing! Artem recycled some of his moves from the Tango with Kara. Didn't feel it was really Burlesque, I thougt the routine was more of an intro than a complete dance, I was thinking where's the rest of the number.

Yes I enjoyed Jessie J, she saved the show for me.

Thought Bethany looked better with Mark, still didn't see much of her personality coming through, but at least better than when she's paired with Derek.

Jonathan's dancing improved, moreso than I've ever seen him with Allison, but he was rough on the tricks, flicks and lifts, poor Peta may need treatment after that dance.

Tommy looked unenthusiastic, going through the motions, using a reggae tune for a mambo didn't really help the situation either. Takes me back some, 'Musical Youth - Pass The Dutchie'. Emma looked good though, liked her outfit.

Antonio at least threw himself into the number, but didn't keep in sync with Allison, he was certainly less stiff anyway.

Am I the only one not wowed by Alfonso, saying that, he did a good job with the Flamenco?

Witney and Michael were not a great fit, think the most awkward pairing of them all. Disco dancing, oh dear.

Lea and Val were good fun, quite enjoyed their dance.

Derek and Sadie, were ok, still not keen on the Chezza song for a Charleston. Feel Sadie is better suited to Mark. Derek's gone 'off the boil', for me, this season with his choreo.

What a mishmash of styles and dancing, hard to judge and then score them. Hope we see some ballroom next week, please.

Didn't know Julianne and Mark had dated, I always got the impression they were more like brother and sister. When did they date, edy?

You clearly don't like Janel, so I'm not sure you are willing to be objective about her performances. I think you are going into them wanting to not like it.

BIB Ummmm ... NO . I can appreciate a good dance when I see it even if someone if not my favorite; I remember saying that the week that she did her JAZZ number that it was One of the BEST dances of the night; Tied with Lea's jive so lay off that.
Good is good; Crap is crap and Im sorry but that Burlesque wasnt good; A 9 from Bruno was overmarked but Im not surprised with that score from him; Clunky lifts, not smooth transitions, I didn't find the right balance between sexy and not trashy. It simply wasnt good (If it was, I will say it regardless of what I think about her ) imo even A lot of her fans and non-fans think the same (from what I have read in other DWTS forums ) .

They were " Childhood sweethearts " ; They dated when they were still living in London and competing at the Junior level there; The break up was a bit nasty but I guess they got over it with time.

I just hate the fact that she gets snarky with him from times to times in her comments....geeez you would think that she has something against him; Remember the Christina Milian debacle ? which got them eliminated ? Again, judge his celebrity , stop making comments on his personality/dance style.....

On to the show , yes I agree with you that Sadie works better with Mark; And there is this move that Derek likes to do in his Charlestons but it is not really a charleston move; funny how the judges never call him on that. I did think that Bethany FINALLY showed MORE confidence and personality with Mark than she ever did with Derek.

I was actually impressed with Antonio's Bollywood ; Pleasantly surprised ; It was NOT the train-wreck that I expected ; Yes he was a bit out of time , slow with his transitions but he gave it a good go !!! I did think that the judges were a bit too harsh with him; Heck they were very harsh with everyone

Unless the judges are commenting on choreo, they should be looking at the celeb, true. I suppose they can't always be impartial, if they have a history.

I've watched the show all the way through now and think I got into the dances, more than just watching the clips on YT.

Think Janel and Artem maybe getting 'scripted' a bit too much, to try and generate competition between them, Lea and Val. Know it's done to garner interest in the 'Switch Up', but comes across as too contrived.

Yes Antonio did quite well, he just couldn't keep up the energy in parts, but then Allison is a speed demon, hard to catch.

Derek tries to be edgy and different, which is good, it just didn't quite work for the Charleston. Thought Sadie was a little messy with some of the steps, she is cleaner with Mark. Think Mark has come up trumps with both his partners this season, which is surprising, thought Derek would have streaked ahead.

SADIE AND MARK are dancing the rumba next week

http://instagram.com/p/uHtf8qzPJ1/?modal=true

I thought for sure that the producers were going to make them avoid that dance.........They made Val and Zendaya avoid the Rumba in season 16.

Oh dear.......

Oh well, one of my favorites rumba from Mark was the one he did with 17 year old Shawn in season 8 so he is perfectly capable of finding that perfect balance....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3bsr0OAIR8

Ughhhh.....Im just not looking forward to the brouhaha before and after it...... I guess we'll see.....

I dont know what the others are dancing yet but I will post if I know

Slightly off-topic but one of my favorites Rumbas on DWTS was Mark and Chelsea in season 12 !!! Yessssssssssss !!! Maybe ....probably my favorite Rumba from Dwts

Sure Sadie's Dad will veto anything he isn't happy with, but then Mark will hopefully make the dance age appropriate.

To be completely fair, not once in the posts after Week 3 did you say anything about it being one of the best of the night, or even much positive about it at all, just that she didn't point her toes and should've been good at it because she's a Jazz dancer, etc. Not that I want to start bickering about it, but that's the way it is.

For the first time this week, I loved Sadie's dance, and really liked Alfonso's too. Lea's was quite slow in places, but it was clean and enjoyable to watch. And as for Janel... even if she did perform the routine well, I'm pretty sure that posing on a chair and being lifted is not all that Burlesque dancing is about. Not that I have experience in that type of dance, of course.

I thought it was just a very brief period of time that Jules and Mark were bf/gf? Very brief? I never heard anything about a nasty breakup; what is your source, do you recall?

Dwts gossip forums (TWOP that closed last year and each of their old forums on the dwts boards ) ...Thats what I read;
I also know that it was briefly mentioned on the show when they were new pros on Dwts ; when Julianne and Mark performed this pro dance with Kelly Minogue as the guest singer;
Ive also read it in the past on Purederekhough......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRRf-Y-XVd4

Oh and Cheryl and Antonio also have the Salsa .

I apologise. I didn't mean you genuinely didn't like the dance, I was just wondering if you were willing to say so when you did. I didn't mean to cause offence That is just how it came across. I think you are being harsh on her, she seems like a nice girl and she has said nothing is going on with her and Val. I do think it's unfair on her boyfriend for people to try and suggest there is something there.
