I don't know about any of the other couples, but when did Derek ever have a fauxmance? His affair with Shannon Elizabeth was real - and lasted more than a year - and his chemistry with Maria real, even if he held back because, as he said, he'd never interfere with her relationship with her boyfriend. Maria told Adam Carolla on his radio show before the season started that her big fear was that she'd fall in love. But she was his type and I give him props for holding back as much as he did.

Howard Stern blasted Maria for continuing to flirt with Derek even after they were no longer paired on the show, and called her boyfriend cuckholded. They continue to hang out occasionally as friends, apparently with Kevin's blessing, but he's looking for the right woman to start a family with.

Dancefan, in my book a fauxmance is just that - faux.

I'm not accusing Derek - or any of the others - of actually 'going there,' but using their chemistry (genuine or faked) to give the impression that 'something' is going on. It might just be a mega-flirtation, or they might take it further, that's just a question of degree.

The 'are they, aren't they?' with Maria may have come more from her side (who knows, maybe with her boyfriend's blessing) ...*shrug*.... but Derek didn't run in the opposite direction and was, at the very least, complicit in letting the show exploit it. He certainly didn't seem uncomfortable about it.

We are, of course, entitled to interpret these things differently

Peta jokes about it but I don't think she actually takes it seriously. I think it comes from the producers and she's very tongue-in-cheek about it.

I love Derek..I really do BUT I really disliked him in season 14. Maria Nenounos is easily my least favorite celebrity that he has been partnered with . I couldn't stand these 2 in season 14 and the highlight for me that season was to see them come short and NOT make the finale. 4th place
I've NEVER seen him go to a showmancing route like that with a celeb before. It was too much.....and just GAG.....ughhhhh !!!!

Funny thing is that I used to really like her prior to that season and was excited about their partnership BUT I couldn't stand her that season......till this day, I STILL don't understand what got into him that season BUT that was an exception to the rule really... it's not like he does it all the time...I can't really recall him showmancing prior ( with Joanna it was actually REAL ) or before that.....



Val needs to stop being SO desperate though and actually focus on the dance. It's like season 15 ALL over again....whatever they're ( him and J ) or not doing is VERY off putting and in poor taste imo. I used to like him but he has been disappointing me this season.

I like Peta and think she can be very funny, but I have grown tired of the sex-pot image she's usually cast in (and am quite happy to accept that production most likely drives it ). It's been refreshing not having that with her this season.

I agree. I wasn't a fan of Peta precisely because of the sex-pot image (even though I knew it was probably producer-driven) but I've really enjoyed her this season with Tommy.

I just wish Emma could get paired with a Corbin Bleu or a Charlie White or an Alfonso Ribeiro, just once - even if it's only in the switch-up week. I'd love to see what she can do with a contestant who can really dance.

I enjoy to come in here and read about DWTS, I found this forum when Kara and Artem danced together.
Regardless which celeb and prodancer you prefer I just think it´s sad when a fansite like PureDWTS goes from fun and positive about the dancing to all negative and unappreciative, they are rude and mean!!
They are very biased towards Derek and Mark and everone else they goes after.
You can´t say something good about Maks or Val or someone that connects with them!!
When they uploaded Janel and Vals interview they started to discuss them but shortly after they start to discuss Meryl and Jenna! It´s not about dancing, they talk about how they look, Meryl is ugly and so on and on, pictures they have in Istagram....
For me its bitterness!!
IMO Meryl won because she was the best dancer! A ringer, yes, but both Derek and Mark had some ringers!
In week 4 they praised Bethanys dance with a very few rumbasteps but her message was important so I think it´s ok! Dereks sister cries as a judge (the message - not the dancing)!
This week Derek got a award and he talks about bullying, I think it´s great but the same day his fans bullying at the PureSite.

I agree with you somehow. Puredwts is one of the reasons why I can't stand SOME Derek fans as much as I like him. They take fanaticism to .. another level.... BUT then again they're not worse than fans of a certain pro here in the Attic
Meryl WON because she was not only a great dancer but also because OF HER SHOWMANCE WITH MAKS. The latter played a HUGE part in her winning imho.
I appreciate the fact that they're a great resource for DWTS. They're one of the last blog LEFT . Most of the other dwts closed a few years ago. ..yeah but they are incredibly biased towards Derek. They started to like Mark ONLY recently. They USED to slag the poor guy in the past SO much than the other pros so I'm slightly surprised to see them liking him..

I can see what you mean with showmance but I don´t see it at that way. Meryl and Maks had a great bond and she could handle him and meet him. IMO I think this was his best connection but he had also great with Mel B and Erin.
The showmance they have every season I think is the producers fault, they push and pimp and so on every monday

The season barely got underway and one of them wrote a post describing why Rob Wade, the new showrunner, might be a douche.

Rob Wade did nothing to deserve that, but it tells you everything you need to know about the writer. From the way they continually disrespect the producers and sometimes the show in general, I'm mystified why anybody on staff would even talk to them.

Once again, it's their blog and they're fit to run it like they want....thankfully not ALL the writers share the same views on the show, the pros, the celebrities....
Well they're virtually the only main dwts blog STILL running, going strong when a LOT of the blogs that were there since the beginning closed so that's probably why they're STILL very popular and why pros like Sharna, Gleb, ....still grant them interviews...

I really like Janel as a dancer and I have been a fan of hers, but I do feel sorry for her now ex boyfriend. Of course none of us can know what their relationship was like, but he seemed to really adore her and it can't have been nice to see her flirting with Val. Whether that is genuine or not, I don't know. But I do feel sorry for people on SCD and DWTS when their partners end up with the professionals they are dancing with.

It seems to happen a lot. There is chemistry between Val and Janel, but I feel sad for Payson.

I haven't seen much chemistry between them she seemed more excited to be partnered with Artem despite the awful dance choice by tptb.

I don't think Janel is destined to be in the final tbh I could be wrong but if they do what they did with last finals I think the dance choices of the switch up could be very telling in who is pulling in votes

I totally agree with the BIB; One of my issue with her is that she went SO overboard with it; to the point of disrespect imo.
