Humax HDR-1000S internal fan question
I have just my 500GB 1000S from Humax and have bought m 2TB drive as well to do the upgrade but i was thinking while i have the unit open i may as well replace the stock fan with something a bit better, does anyone have any idea what size fan goes into the 1000S? I presume it's a 40mm unit but unsure if it's 10 or 20mm thick.

Sorry no idea, I didn't bother to look when I upgraded my hard drive.
Just out of interest what improvements are you hoping for over the stock fan ? |

I think with a good quality AV HDD you shouldn't have any noise/heat/airflow problems. All I ever hear is the hard drive and that's ever so quiet. I've got the usual 2TB WD drive in mine that a few other users have fitted.

The fan in question is a 50x50x15cm unit and the model comes up as a "AUB0512LB" so i know have to look those specs up, I must admit i'm very anal about noise so although i suspect it will be a waist of time i will to see if there is anythimg much better out there. Stock specs of the supplied fan are as follows: Air Flow (CFM) 11.67 Fan Speed (RPM) = 4300 Noise Level (dBA) = 24 You can up the following Gelid Solutions Silent 5 Air Flow (CFM) 12.9 Fan Speed (RPM) = 4000 Noise Level (dBA) = 23 All1 |

Mines a WD20EURS, I did the mod a couple of months after the 1000s came out.
The stock fan doesn't seem to bad then. |
