I remember when every summer Digital Spy would interview every producer from the soaps/continuing dramas, it's a shame this doesn't happen anymore. They seem to happen less and less now. We still haven't had one with Dominic Treadwell-Collins, just that press release in December.

I was thinking about this recently. I was really hoping for a Byran Kirkwood one as I'm interested to see what he thinks about the state of the show. However, I haven't heard anything about one happening.

We've had one from Emmerdale, Casualty, Holby, Doctors and Neighbours.

Just EastEnders, Corrie, Hollyoaks and Home and Away to go.

EE and HO interviews are the ones everyone's waiting for.

I can understand why Kirkwood would be avoiding giving his interview, but I have no idea about what would be the holdup for DTC's.

And this is the latest I think it's ever gone for these interviews to be released.

Bryan Kirkwood has done interviews including one with Inside Soap just last week. I'm sure he'll do one for DS despite the hate campaign a loud minority here have for him.

DTC bottled a interview with This Morning the other week his excuse was "I was in a meeting"

The interview is for DS. A one-sided exchange with Inside Soap telling them what he's excited about is something else entirely.

Bryan knows full well the criticisms people here have. Unless Daniel's going to pull punches with his questions and under-acknowledge the overwhelming negative response people are having across all social media and multiple forum sites to Bryan's showrunning, then the delayed HO interview can't just be a coincidence.

Hi all,

We've already done Neighbours and Emmerdale producer chats in the past few weeks, while Casualty is next on our list and will be happening very shortly. There are definitely more planned over the next few weeks but it's too early to confirm any specifics at the moment.

The only difference in the past couple of years is that rather than putting up a single announcement of producer interviews for every show, we've preferred to confirm them on the main site one or two at a time (eg http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s1...ossington.html) as this is much easier for us when it comes to getting them arranged alongside the many cast member chats we already do.

Hope this helps a bit, but we'll keep you posted.

Daniel, I don't mean to badger, but can you give us an update on the rest of the producer interviews?

I'm DYING for the Kirkwood interview in particular, and there's only 2 weeks of August left.

Why are they happening so much later this year?

Interesting that it's the Casualty producer interview up next now, when from what I can tell, it's barely that acknowledged or popular a soap here on DS.

I really think something must be going on. It's less clear why DTC would be avoiding what's become a staple annual interview, he's rejuvenated EE, but I think I'm not even going to even expect a Kirkwood interview anymore. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if it was announced that for reasons that can't be explained , he's not able to give a full interview this year but he'll be able to release more statements gushing about how great his 2 new McQueens are going to be in his opinion. Sigh.

He must be terrified of having to answer questions like why aren't any of the show's issue-led storylines being handled appropriately, or why would the quality of the show have suffered if they'd done Later again this year when they've been able to juggle both the past 6 years, or why does he value spectacle over logic and continuity and aftermath, etc.

Casualty gets 4m viewers on average so I'm pleased that Digital Spy have done the Casualty interview. We haven't had a casualty producer interview since 2011.

I don't think DTC will do an interview with Digital Spy because he has already done 2 big press interviews (December 2013 and April 2014).

I'm not expecting an interview from Bryan Kirkwood and I bet Lucy Addario (Home and Away producer) will refuse to do an interview with DS because they asked her some very honest questions and she answered like a politician and she received a lot of backlash because of her appalling answers.

Were these DTC interviews done by magazines?

Because I don't remember him having done any big interviews that recently. He'd made some comments that seemed targeted at Kirkwood, now THAT I remember, lol, but I think was from more the middle of last year.

And DS interviews are more oriented for the more invested forum-using fans and viewers, and addresses the questions and concerns we have for the showrunners, so it's important to distinguish that from the press kind of interviews.

Really hope we have an interview with Dominic coming up sometime soon. We've not had an EastEnders interview since November 2012. Really want to hear his plans.

I didn't see that but if she answered like that I don't blame her, what soaps need is a producer that can criticise the show aswell as praise it, if a producer can't understand the mess of their own show, they're a poor producer IMO:P

I really don't understand why Babe and Dean were brought in. I dislike Babe with a passion and Dean is nothing but a scrawny insect.
