As I posted on my YouTube comment, I saw no flirting. It seemed more like an older brother / little sister type of relationship. Let's face it, they are definitely in a dysfunctional household, and that strengthens their bond.

Agree. you can dislike a housemate for many reasons but to infer that chris,s behaviour is inappropriate is snide.

Indeed there are. I always wanted one as a child, a friend of mine had one and I loved them from that moment.

I think he knows this, they are friends after all.

His mates the people who actually know him are joking about this rubbish accusation.
I think if there was anything to this , they would have some kind of concern.
If they can see it for being nothing untoward surely a bunch of forum BB fans can also.

My husband always had them as a child, it took him 30 years to persuade me but gosh she is just what we needed after our beloved Molliepops died earlier in the year (retriever x collie). Sorry for hijacking thread

Well firstly, she isn't a kid. Secondly, there is a difference between flirting and complimenting. Thirdly, its obvious they are on the on the same wavelength. So what if there was a spark? Only a 15 year age difference, which is exactly the same as me and my boyfriend. And no one thinks he is a creep.

Ridiculous judgment anyway because nothing's going on.

Yes, that's very sad we put our beautiful yellow labbie too sleep 2 months ago now, my heart is broken. He was 15 and a half. He had a great life.

Sorry for off topic too folks.

I agree, her dislikers were saying that at 18 years old she isn't a kid, she's a woman. They can't have it both ways.

Well I thought it was very sweet. Chris is someone who doesn't need everyone to like him, he just needs one strong friend and he'll be OK with that. I've been a bit concerned that he hadn't had anyone on his wavelength all series. Well now he's found someone and I'm thrilled it's reciprocated even though Ashleigh would have been one of the last people I'd have guessed a few weeks ago!

I'd be exactly the same in there. Suss everyone out, find one person I could trust implicitly and make sure they knew how much I appreciated them in all the madness. Male or female, nothing flirty, nothing sexual, just being grateful for someone you can rely on.

And I do believe this tbh. There doesn't have to be sexual chemistry or anything but there's always gender awareness. You can still talk about everything under the sun (and even that's a "more or less"), be as frank and open as you like, but that little gender thing is still there impacting on/compromising complete freedom in your relationship. And it undoubtedly can sometimes influence what you say and how you say it. It's what I've experienced with my male "platonic" friendships of which I've had/have a fair few. Doesn't spoil said relationships, indeed sometimes enhances them, but makes them different to same-sex friendships.

To me it was very apparent that Chris and Ashleigh's conversation was an example of "platonic impossiblity". They like each other as friends, and treat each other as such whilst being highly aware of the gender difference. IMO the subject matter of that conversation would never have cropped up if there WERE such a thing as male/female platonic relationships - it smacked of gender awareness. But that doesn't make it wrong or creepy or sinister or pervy or any of the other unfortunate aspersions being cast upon it. They have a healthy opposite-sex friendship - there's trust, there's kindness, there's comfortableness, there's no threat, no awkwardness (insofar as Chris is able to be UN-awkward lol)......... but it isn't platonic. And there's nothing wrong with that.”

Great post and I couldn't agree more. I've had some lovely platonic relationships with guys. Until you both get drunk and realise you're the opposite sex. Or one of you confesses undying love.

'When Harry Met Sally' had a lot of truth in it.

I found it quite endearing. They both really like each other and it shows. Chris definitely has a crush, he thinks she's perfect. But he's also an unattractive man in his thirties, with some intelligence to boot, so he's never going to assume it will go any further. Nothing creepy to see here. And so what if he complimented her, she is the prettiest girl in the room.

Nothing wrong with him at all - if you want something truly disturbing, it's Steven and Kimbot or Helen and her puppet you should be more worried about...

Anyone trying to make anything ountoward of that video... is it perhaps jealousy that an apparent outsider like Chris appears to be quite popular, and gets on well with the prettiest girl there?

Really?!

I think it's obviously a little flirty. Chris is basically telling Ashleigh she's the prettiest girl there (which he emphasises many times) and is exactly on his wavelength (unlike anyone else... not just anyone in there but anyone in his life in total!) and he feels deeply for her. He probably did it wearing that face mask so she wouldn't see him blush. It's not phwoar wolf-whistle daftness, but flirty-via-conversation, for sure.

However!!!!

Mates can be flirty with each other. I mean even work colleagues. People of 65 might flirt with a 20-year old in this kind of a flattering, subtle, complimentary manner (not always subtle!!!! ) It doest necessarily mean anything whatsoever though (even when it isn't subtle.)

Not every flattering or flirty comment or even every great connection or fantastic friendship means one or other of the two really wants to get in the other one's pants... Errrr.... Although, in life I have discovered that unknowingly to one party or other, this can sometimes be the case, haha ... So maybe my saying that is a bit naive? Or maybe I haven't had enough male friends. Well I definitely haven't - I don't even know any men at all at the moment, so ignore my thoughts!! But, that said if people truly are good friends even the one who does like the other romantically a bit would never in a squillion years do anything about it if in a situation where for whatever reason it wasn't appropriate. Well, maybe not never.... but y'know...

I'm (sadly) not a fan of Chris (at the moment at least), but I think he'd be mortified to think of this clip being shown and to ponder the notion of people discussing whether he's flirting with Ashleigh . At the same time I'm sure he finds it flattering that a beautiful girl is so close friends with him... and he clearly does find her attractive (I mean, she is!) He never would do anything and it's not flirting with any intent, but it's friends talking which reveals I think a greater depth of feeling perhaps towards Ashleigh from Chris. I also have got the vibe from him a few times that he has a bit of a crush on her. But it's no more than that (as far as I've seen at least!) Or maybe it kind of is more. Maybe he does kind of feel a devotion to Ashleigh. Still doesn't mean it has any intent behind it in reality.

The loneliest girl in the room being the prettiest and all that stuff that went on for a bit too long for comfort is surely from the book of cheese and cringe and MAN though I must say. Tsk tsk Chris.

I don't think it's a crush it's just a connection, they kinda need eachother in there that's true, apart from those two and Christopher I wouldn't associate with the rest.

Just as well she's pretty then, he would be looking elsewhere for a pretty one to make a point of talking to otherwise.

Yes that's how I see it. As you say flirting is flirting and goes on between all ages and it's harmless. But ..............it was a tad cringey.
