Did Kimberly pull a Dawn (BB7)?

I rarely post and don't mean to sound like your typical conspirator, but there's something just not right about this whole illness story. No great details have been published and I can't help but think it's looking a bit like Dawn's 'secret message' scenario back in series 7. I don't know how she would have gone about this, but I do think she has been given some clue to get out the house by someone, with the illness being included in the plan. Now, the illness deemed too severe to stop her from re-entering has improved so much she can now muster an appearance on Bots tomorrow(?!).

Hiya! Welcome to thread starting

I think 5 days being ill is pretty ill.

Some people are ill enough to have 3 days off work and are fine when they go back.
The human body is pretty resilient, like if you have a vomiting bug (NOT morning sickness ffs) it can knock you off your feet, but once the vomiting stops and you keep food down you bounce back pretty quickly.

Not knowing what the illness was is making it difficult, maybe it will be revealed tomorrow.

I think she took what the newbies were saying to heart a little bit and got stressed out which may or may not have made her poorly

Obviously her tests came back all clear, so she's fit as a fiddle.

Maybe it was more mental than physical.

That's a good point, usually any kind of mental stress can manifest itself in a physical way

Clearly it's all her fault and her plan. The people who run the show had NOTHING to do with it. I mean assuming this is a put up job, clearly its the evil girl manipulating the big TV channel, right?

Where's the rolly eyes smiley again?

Or... lets try the idea that maybe she was ill for four or five days and is better now. Not that it's the same, but take the example of one of the housemates on the current US show, Jocasta. She became seriously dehydrated and was very ill (just on the verge of being removed and sent to a hospital, but they decided to keep her in) and was barely conscious for two or three days, but fully recovered by around Day 4. There are many other types of illnesses that with an IV drip, or intense antibiotics, or even just several days of bed rest can go away totally (another example might be food poisoning, or stomach flu).

But Jocasta did return to the house, same when on BB9 Amanda and Allison both required medical treatment.

There is no reason why you can't have basic medical treatment i.e. medications in the house after you're discharged from hospital.

She would've missed two evictions, though - last Friday's and this week's round of nominations (and therefore this week's eviction).

With only a couple of weeks of the show left, perhaps it was felt that it wouldn't really be fair for her to return.

I'm failing to see how the implication of the original poster, that this was somehow Kim manipulating the show is supported by that though, even if its true that some "funny business" went on here. Seems to me that someone going in or staying out after an absence is the decision of the showrunners, and short of Kim outright refusing (I doubt she COULD--there have to be legal contracts in place), I don't see how this is on her.

In other words, if its faked, I don't see how it was evil Kim manipulating people--at most it was the show pulling tricks and getting her to cooperate. That said, I doubt it. The most likely explanation is that it's real, and they didn't put her back in because people had ALREADY starting screaming in places like this about it being "unfair" if she got to go back in. Because clearly the Internet was going to have it in for both Kim and the show over this either way (outrage if she went back in, further conspiracy theories if she didn't).

Despite all the jokes about her being a robot (I've made more of those than anybody), I doubt it's actually a case of someone checking for a fluid level or doing a "test". More likely it's one of the many legit illnesses than can and do pass with treatment in 5 days.

My money is on gastroenteritis. Food poisoning or something viral can cause this, and even if Kim DIDN'T actually go to a hospital (who knows?) it still would be something they'd yank someone from the house for, because what viewer would want to see someone puke and sh@@ out diarrhea for a few days? (and lie in bed like a corpse most likely between bouts of that). And yet gastroenteritis can pass in three or four days easily. Even the IV thing might be true, because the most serious cases lead to dehydration (although typically they'd just have someone drink a lot of water).

Not saying I have any special knowledge here, but it's just thinking about why they wouldn't want someone on TV for most of a week, but be totally okay with it later on. And it's the kind of illness where nobody wants to be TOO specific, because it's embarrassing all around to talk about poop and puke.

I have nothing against Kim, and I suppose if she does still want to make a go of it with Stephen when he gets evicted on Friday, then fair enough, I'll stand corrected. Without knowing the in's and out's of her medical history, it would be nice if there was some inclination of what was actually wrong with her, which was never mentioned by a housemate or BB, which I hope she discloses in tonight's interview - granted, if it IS a case of just 'puke and poop' then yeah, maybe dress it up a little, but I dont understand why she couldn't re-enter after just a few days.
