Tonight's 'huge twist' is indicative of everything the producers have done wrong throughout this series. They have been so concerned with creating arguments and manipulating the housemates into conflict that they have lost touch of what actually makes Big Brother so entertaining. I can recall only one episode in which there was no bad blood between the housemates whatsoever (the task episode in which Danielle's team lost to Ashleigh's team by a huge milestone). It was great entertainment and amusing to watch. And wait.. no arguments or bitching AT ALL. Possibly the best episode of the series.

The very next day, Big Brother introduces 'Armageddon' to stir things up. It was a terribly disappointing week in which the housemates were responsible for two evictions and the public only got to choose which one of the newbies to get rid of. That should never happen in a TV show which is designed primarily for the public. Fortunately, the two housemates who left (Marlon and Danielle) had no chance of winning anyway, but it could have been so different.

And now the most bizarre twist of all.. just for the sake of having another twist, it seems. The public voted Ashleigh as the power housemate and now she is up for eviction because of that, despite being told she was immune. Eh? Steven, Ash and Pav then randomly get assigned the power to decide which of the power housemates is up for eviction? Surely the point of being a power housemate is that you have the power and nobody else does. It's one of the weirdest twists I've ever seen.

We've been watching a series in which we've barely seen anybody making particularly regular use of the diary room, which is usually one of the most interesting things about the show. So why aren't the housemates going in there? Because they know that Big Brother will show any footage to the other housemates at some stage in the future if it is even remotely negative.

What it has been a mess from the start

Yeah, exactly. The theme of 'Power Trip' has been a disaster from start to finish. It hasn't been implemented properly at all. On any occasion that BB has sat back and allowed the housemates to get on with it without any interference whatsoever, it has been a significantly better show. However, I can count the decent episodes on one hand. That is what I mean by the loss of 'potential'.

ok i agree but the constant interfering with noms, and all the outside contack the twists the housemates deciding who should leave etc, has made it a pile of sh,t. as you say let them get on with it it would be a far better show

Nothing half decent about it. It's terrible, absolutely the worst. I feel we are all getting punked. Ashton Kutcher, Emma and Rylan will be on the stage to greet the remaining housemates along with the evicted ones to tell the nation, there is no money and it was a bunch of teenagers doing a 3 month course work experience in production.

Probably not. But it felt it was at least on the way to redeem itself somewhat, even if only slightly. It did start to feel as though things might get a bit more interesting in the last leg and a bit different to how they were heading.

The sub-heading 'Power Trip' sounds more like it's referring to the BB show makers having the power trip.

I've been wondering that too, as barmy as it seems.

What, OMG, I never knew this, that's it, unbelievable, why the hell would you do that, so unfair, why make her have the power, they just don't understand how many viewers again they will lose with doing such a stupid thing.

Twists are fine. The issue? The twists have become such a common occurrence that it's extremely predictable. When the power alliance was announced, in the highlights thread, we all KNEW that one of them would end up being up for eviction. It's not exciting. It's obvious. And to be honest, it does get boring.

Some very good points, IMO, and true for me.......

.......but the ultimate twist could be.........that it is the viewers who are being played by BB.......they sit there in the production office laugh, whilst they read all the posts from fans, tearing their hair out, and trying to fathom out what the hell is going on ........

So many upset fans on the forum today........ well done production team........turning a much loved show into a complete farce and utter shambles........

I think it's all manipulated just to get Emma and Rylan to wet their pants with excitement.

I agree, imo the only way to pay back BB is to stop voting...we should know by now that BB will always get the result they want...The week Ash was saved after being odd on to go opened my eyes. The viewers are being played and how....

If you ask me they're running out of ideas, they did this with Toya and Matthew. Big characters are put up and BB thinks sh!t how can we salvage this, oh I know lets tell everyone who was power housemate then give the power to the ones up.

The selfishness of Helen and Ash is unbelievable, anything goes as long as it doesn't involve them or their pals, because well, they are IT. Ash stood there saying nowt, Pav and Zoe didn't get a sniff at being saved.

I don't like what they've done in this series but I'm still watching, its a win win situation for the programme maker.

When the trendy young kiddies running this farce decided on the Power theme, they were referring to themselves. They are like kids with a toy and it is ruining the entire show. Not that we didn't predict that this would happen.

The cool kids in production clearly want one of the cool kids in the house to win, or get them to the final. I wish people would stop voting, if only for one week.

This series has been ruined by the contrived and fixed "Twists"...even when we have a winner on finals night i wouldn't bank on the winner getting out of the studios with the £100 grand.....one last twist where they whip the dosh off the winner and give it to steven for his fireworks display....whoosh..up in smoke.....great finale...

The show reallly does a need a break, it needs Viacom and Endamol, to sit down, and figure out what direction they want the programme to go in.

Have you seen Channel 5's version of fireworks? Usually a sparkler which produces a fog warning for the local area.
