It used to be one off my favourite parts of the show with the big bourd and chalk there was always a bit of drama and politics surrounding it, I remember a two week campaign in bb8 to try and keep Carole away from it but alass it could not be done and in bb9 they all hated Rex doing it.

I know it was only a little thing but shopping list day was something I always looked forward to seeing and now it's gone I really miss it.

So I invite you to add a few of your own memories.

the fags versus food debate was always good, what year was it when they all had their own little allowance rather than club together?

every little tradition of this show gets shat on

A lot of us strive for the old school BB things.

I would take a house of boring no marks for 9 weeks if there were nominations (no silly twists), chickens, chalkboards for the shopping and minimal production. BB old style!

Yeah i have mentioned this before, it was a big part of the show for me. The same with just the random conversations housemates had together, no arguing, no jumping around or shouting etc, just nice conversations.
It was interesting to watch and was kind of the point of the show, how strangers interacted with each other, what they would talk about etc.

Now the show (the Channel 5 one anyway) is just a scripted fake show with agency head hunted housemates.
There is very little 'real' content left and even the stuff that does seem genuine comes about from the constant manipulation from the producers to keep certain story lines alive.

It just seems to me that either Channel 5 don't realize what made the show so fascinating in the first place or they think that stuff like the shopping list and nice conversations etc are just too boring for the current audience.
I don't agree with that at all and i'd suggest that the ratings show that a lot of BB fans don't agree with that as well.

I watched a few bits of BB7 last week and honestly it was like watching a completely different show.
What we have now is BB in name only imo.

Even the basic budget means nothing now, no one goes hungry with all the parties and takeaways they now get for silly little tasks.

Also there's plenty of heavy smokers in the house and yet they seem to have a plentiful supply of baccy I notice, this rarely happened before, they used to run out after a few weeks which caused loads of drama.

I remember during BB7 everyone was saying the same thing.

I'm pretty sure stuff like cigs are just given to them, housemates are more like actors playing a role these days.
I wouldn't actually be surprised if they don't even do the shopping list anymore.

Which would just show even more how different the Channel 5 show is from the early series.

I miss late night chats on the live feed, waiting for them to wake up, finding out about them, their beliefs, opinions etc and just the general small talk. You see glimpses of it sometimes and it's sad.

it screams "great product placement" but then again... in this age of "price wars" you dont want a shopping list where the items look "dear" !!!

i do wonder though what microsoft is getting for their "Product placement" deal.. no one knows that the tablets are meant to be (are they?) theirs... they just look like 1001 other "pads" while the computer feel of the show doesnt say "microsoft" in anyway either...

weird product placement... i guess MS did something for them that is more a soft commission than an actual advert

The shopping list was a major part of the old BB.
It revealed so much in terms of alliances, true personalities and the fags v food argument was a weekly highlight.

The current farce that masquerades as BB bears no resemblance to the real thing.

As fake as a market handbag.

I miss the early risers, the starers into space, the bread making, the meal making, the endless mornings watching them put on their warpaint, the chickens, the veggie patches, the staring into mirrors and windows, the stayer uppers, the sleeping on the sofas, the chalk board, the sighs, the washing up, the preparing of meals and the arguments that went with it, the pubey towels in the oven( lol)

I miss Big Brother and I hope that one day we will get it back on our screens again............

I remember when Makosi wanted Cherry Tango, and they charged her about 300% more than the actual cost.

Best shopping list ever was when Rex went in with it

I must say that some of the best spats came from the shopping lists

Every little tradition of the original BB has gone.

Chalk board Shopping list - gone
Live Feed - gone
Non Interfered Nominations - gone
No talking nominations rule - gone
No outside contact - gone
Alcohol had to be bought in shopping list - gone
Public only voted evictions - gone
24/7 shopping tasks - gone
Diary Room confidential - gone

Probably many more!
