Why do people dislike "cunning" and "calculating" HMs?

I would describe myself as cunning and calculating, that really is the main way through life!

I love it when people play a good game and do what they have to. But on the other hand there is no need to be nasty, vindictive, bossy, turning people against each other, bullying etc to do this. There is a fine line.
You can play the game and still be a nice person whilst doing it.

Apparently viewers want to be fooled into thinking people are being "genuine" when they are on TV, and reward the people who do the best job of faking being genuine. If you dare show an agenda (that you are playing a game), you are worthy of hate. If you LIE about having an agenda and fool enough of the public, then they reward you.

The viewers (teenage girls according to a recent reddit AMA) love the fake thickos.

I love 'em. They usually have the best eyebrows.

because that's not the way you win this game. if i'm watching bb usa and someone is particuarly good at being manipulative and cunning then i can appreciate that even if i don't like the person, such as dr will and maggie. if i'm watching bb uk, i want to see someone fun, and likeable and genuinely a well rounded person.
