You're now beginning to make me question my sanity! I wasn't on DS that year, or any other forum, so I didn't pick the idea up from external influences, but I could have sworn it was mentioned somewhere, either on the main show or one of the spin-offs, that Lisa had been explicitly warned about her treatment of Freddie.

Quote:
“Kris. Kris didn't care particularly for Lisa, and was certainly not under her thumb. Apart from Sophie, he didn't seem particularly interested in any of the women even as friends. Lisa was not present when he taunted Freddie about the washing up, or when he contrived the game of hide and seek.”

One of the key memories I have of that series is Lisa sitting on the smoking bench as it was her throne, surrounded by her various acolytes on the lawn, and Freddie starting to say something totally innocuous before being cut down, almost straight away, by a 'Shut up, Halfwit!' from Kris. That seemed to say a lot about the dynamics in the house.

Quote:
“ She did no such thing. I challenge you to think of ONE SINGLE REMARK she made against anyone at all from about a third of the way through the series.”

Well, throughout the series she referred to Freddie as 'Halfwit' with feeling, often directly, whereas I can't recall a single occasion when anyone called Sophie 'Dogface'. Plus, there were number of pointed rants, to whoever would listen, about how she thought she was going to be in the house with 'normal people'. Okay, she didn't name names (having been warned not to?) but it was clear enough who she was on about.

We can agree to disagree about this, of course; it was a long time ago and I doubt either of us have got perfect recall, but your take on Lisa as a sort of benign, dotty aunt figure is way off how I remember her.

There were a few days when Freddie, Marcus, Siavash, Tom, Kenneth and Bea held the kitchen - indeed boasted about how uncomfortable they would make it for anyone else to use the kitchen - while Freddie ranted on about who had gameplans. But they just got bored. It was obvious that Tom had no interest in the show, Bea fell out massively with Freddie, Marcus was actually quite pally with Charlie and Siavash with Sophie and it was hard to stir up much hate against Lisa and David since all they seemed to do from dawn to dusk was sit in the garden making inconsequential remarks about the weather and what they were having for tea.

In the end, the split ended up more generational: Marcus and Lisa warmed to each other, and the finalists started to take the mick out of David and Lisa and their Terry and June standard repartee.[/quote]

Paul was eminently more likable than this Steven fellow though.
