What is it that makes us on the forum view the show differently to the public

One example I always think of is Courtney in CBB12. She was the forum fave and was leading all the online polls, yet was evicted right before the final.

Matthew is also a good example, where we all thought Ash was a goner.

What do you thinks makes us view the show differently to the public so that we get these sort of predictions wrong.

Is it that we general watch all the time while the public might just watch occasionally and vote on the spot?”

Oh good a kindred spirit. I have been saying this for weeks. Keep bigging up Ashleigh forum that will guarantee she leaves.

Whereas just talking to family and friends she is still a firm fav. I remember when Freddie was being hyped on here to be the winner ( and I hadn't read the forum for most of the series because it lost it's sparkle for me when they axed live feed ) I couldn't understand it cos to me he was just an idiot.”

Who's lined up Ashleigh to win? And how? Just out of interest... !
I must say it's not the impression I get!

Lots of people aren't so careful with their money, spending a couple of pounds on a friday night TV show is acceptable. Especially as most people these days have a mobile phone permanently stuckcin their hand, it's no effort at all.

Through my experience posting here - and not just in the BB section - I find that DS spends an awful lot of time fixating on producers and edits, often to an obsessive level. The forum almost always ends up supporting whoever is percieved to not be a producer favourite and take a passionate dislike to those who are seen as favourites. I feel like a lot of the time the forum does support these people for genuine reasons, but I also think sometimes there is a tendency to go for the anti-vote no matter what.

Casual viewers on the other hand are less likely to give much thought to the show beyond what they see on the screen. They therefore aren't likely to give two shits about edit, and will be morely to take what they see on face value. To cite an example this series, I think it's a commonly held opinion that Mark is far more popular with casual viewers than he is with posters here. Mark is clearly a producer favourite this year and gets a lot of screen time and positivity, but is largely disliked on here despite not really doing anything that bad (apart from playing up the stupid angle!)

There's probably many reasons why people end up doing this (that's not for here) but I think it's probably why the forum doesn't often get its way in the end. In a nutshell, we sometimes tend to back the no-hopers and then get confused when they finish in third place behind the producers lapdogs

The forum users are generally older , fewer tweenies here who will vote for a numpty or TOWIE type or someone just because they are 'sweet' like that awful bore last year

I follow and interact with this forum but I only agree with it about a third of the time. I don't always argue my beliefs where certain HMs are concerned as I can't be bothered.

Except where Steven is concerned, of course.
